The scent of hundreds, if not thousands, of books greeted him when he pushed the door to the library open. His first semester of college had been completed successfully, and finals were at last at an end. Spending the last month frazzled and nervous had definitely taken its toll on the young man, leaving him at least ten pounds thinner (which really showed on his already thin frame) and sleep deprived. Either way, he felt better for being done. With the amount of studying he had done one would think he would feel confident in his grades, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to eat right again until after he’d gotten them. Hopefully that wouldn’t be too long. He ran his fingers through his hair, removing his jacket thereafter and placing it on a hook by the door for that purpose. His scarf remained on, though, because it kept him warm. Despite it not really being that cold, Bastion still wore fairly thick winter clothing. He was always freezing, no matter what.
He pulled at the sleeves of his sweater, wrapping them up in his fingers as is feet beat a well memorized path into the library. One might think that he would be sick of reading after all the reading he’d done lately, but Bastion could never really get sick of such a thing. His eyes traveled from shelf to shelf as he tried to decide what genre he wanted to read. He did enjoy historical novels, but then again he’d been wanting to read Game of Thrones recently as well. It was a pretty hefty read, but he knew he could finish it before the spring semester started back.
With that in mind, he made his way toward the fantasy section of the library, barely paying attention to anything or anyone. With Christmas just around the corner, most people didn’t enjoy just spending their time in the library. He turned toward the appropriate shelf, pursing his lips slightly as he scanned the books, looking for the correct title.

While most students were de-stressing after getting done with finals, Jae was still hard at work going over materials he needed to know for work. Sure classes might be over and the winter break had started at long last but Jae still needed to research more if he wanted to be able to do his job adequately. Yes, he was learning a lot but Jae certainly didn't want to look like an imbecile if a patient asked something he didn't know off hand. He may just be a medical scribe but Jae didn't want to disappoint anyone to say the least of things. It would do no good to make the hospital look bad after all and that was why he still had studying to do even if classes were over.
Closing the book he had been reading, Jae sighed and rubbed his temple in an attempt to stay off a migraine before forcing himself to his feet once again. The answer he had originally been looking for hadn't been in that book which meant he had to somehow find yet another book and spend more time looking through that. The library was very empty that day considering not many people had opted to read more after cramming for finals and the like. Thus, Jae had fully expected the library to be empty when he saw someone else scanning the shelves.
"Looking for something?"Jae asked easily as leaned lightly against one of the bookshelves. Doubtless he looked like hell to say the least of things considering he had had little to no sleep the past week. That and...he couldn't quite remember the last time he ate but ah well. Between finals and work there had been little time for such things and he still hadn't found the answers he was looking for. Perhaps helping the other man would be a good distraction, at least for now.

He wasn’t expecting to be approached by anyone, honestly, so when that voice hit the air – however soft – he jumped just slightly. His eyes moved to its origin immediately, taking in the details of the man it had come from. The first thing he noted was that hair. Purple. Some people dyed their hair, others had naturally odd colors. Obviously he couldn’t say which happened to be the case with this man. The second thing he noted was the height. Despite being a very thin person, Bastion was tall, and he wasn’t used to someone being that much taller than him. A soft blush colored the features of the naturally shy man as he took a step back from the shelf. “Oh I was… just looking for Game of Thrones.” He answered, rubbing the back of his head a bit.
His golden gaze would remain on the man’s face for a second longer before it lowered to the floor. Bastion never held people’s eyes, ever, unless he was comfortable with them, and even then he tended to be submissive and quiet. He simply didn’t have an outgoing or loud personality. He was a quiet man by nature, more content to read alone than to be in the company of others. Not to say he was anti-social, but the process of making friends tended to be a long and stressful one for him. He liked having friends, though, so he could typically force himself through the process. “I’ve heard the series is pretty good.” He added after the fact.

The blush that appeared on the other man's features elicited a small smirk from Jae as the man answered him. Either this man was a shy one, or perhaps he had a crush...either way, it was amusing to say the least of things. Perhaps this chance meeting was going to be fun after all~. The reply was met with a nod before Jae closed the distance between them, scanning the shelves briefly before finding the book in question. Unfortunately, the series happened to be on the top shelf behind the man, well, he could simply get the books for him.
Of course the man just happened to be standing directly underneath the shelf...well, this could be fun~. Approaching the bookshelf, Jae more or less backed the other male into the shelf behind him before he reached for the first couple of books in the Game of Thrones series. The man hadn't been specific about which books he wanted to read, this way Jae could give him a few options. "Is this what you were looking for?"Jae asked quietly, showing the books to the other man, still not moving from his position in front of the bookcase.
Jae told himself that it was because the books might be the wrong ones but in truth, it was because he rather enjoyed the view. The man's golden eyes were quite captivating and beautiful and the raven locks looked to be as smooth as silk. Perhaps his advances would be unwelcome but this was simply too good of an opportunity to pass up. Their faces were but mere inches from each other but all the same, Jae didn't even try to move away, he would tease him a little more before he would even begin to move away. ~~~ Bastion Lewis

If the raven-haired male hadn’t been comfortable with the other man closing the distance between them to begin with, which he hadn’t, he certainly wasn’t comfortable at all with being backed into the shelf. Surely he could have stepped to the side or something, but it didn’t readily occur to him, and he simply stepped backward as the purplette stepped forward. His fingers gripped at the shelf behind him as he pressed as close to it as he could get. His breath was held, his stomach was sucked in – as if that was really necessary – and his body was stiff and taunt. The color on his cheeks deepened, and it became readily obvious that he was not comfortable with the situation in the slightest. He could smell the taller man (not that he smelled bad), he could feel the heat from his body, and he didn’t even know his name. No. This was not okay at all.
When the other man spoke, no matter how quiet, Bastion jumped slightly. Speaking meant he was going to have to move his gaze from the floor, and that meant he would be forced to notice just how close their faces were. His cheeks turned an even darker red when his golden eyes found those purple ones, just briefly before he looked down again. Wait. What had the man even asked? He pressed back against the bookshelf more, practically sitting on it at this point, as he bit down on his lip. “I… I…” He couldn’t even think, had no idea what he was supposed to be answering. Finally, though, his gaze would fall on the books. “Those are good.” He stated, not even really looking at the title. Anything to get the other man to back up a bit, really.

Perhaps Jae was having just a little too much fun with the man but really, who could blame him? Those golden eyes met his even just briefly as he looked at the books, drawing a small smirk onto Jae's features as the man tried to come up with an answer to his question. It was cute really, how flustered the man got just by being this close to him...perhaps he could play with him just a little bit more before he pulled away completely.
Leaning in closer, Jae made it appear as if he was going to kiss the other man before he pulled away at the last possible moment and handed him the books. "Here you go then~,"Jae replied nonchalantly as he stepped away from the man,"Forgive me, I seemed to have forgotten my manners. My name is Fa Jae-Hwa, or just Jae for short. What might your name be?"he continued in a kind voice as if nothing at all was amiss.
Now that he thought about it, perhaps it hadn't been such a good idea to tease the other man. He might have made a bad first impression to say the least of things. Ah well, it was simply too good of an opportunity to pass up and now Jae could only hope that the man was forgiving. At least he wasn't close to the other man like before but whether it would stay that way remained to be seen. ~~~ Bastion Lewis

The raven’s breath caught rather hard and noticeably as the other man moved in closer. His head was jerked quickly to the side as he attempted to dodge the kiss he believed was coming. In the end, however, the books were simply handed to him. He let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding as his slender fingers closed over them. He would have to look at them later to be sure they were even correct, but for now he didn’t really care. All he really wanted to do was find somewhere to hide, or even someone to hide behind.
Thankfully, though, the purple haired man stepped back and he was able to take a couple of deep breaths. The color on his cheeks faded slightly, and he focused as the other introduced himself. Jae was about the only thing he brain latched on to. He clutched those books to his chest slowly, his golden gaze remained on the floor at Jae’s feet. “My name is Bastion.” He mumbled, shaking some of his hair back out of his face. “Lewis.” He added the surname on as an afterthought. He might have said something akin to ‘nice to meet you’, but that would have been a lie presently.

Jae couldn't help but smirk a little as he watched the man before him try to calm himself after how close they had just been. Perhaps it was cruel of him to tease the man like that when they had only just met but it had simply been too good of an opportunity to pass up. When the man introduced himself as Bastion, Jae bowed briefly before smiling at him calmly. From how quiet his tone of voice was, it was a good guess that he was still rather flustered from earlier. It was adorable honestly, and it was all Jae could do not to laugh right then and there.
"You said the series was 'Game of Thrones,' correct? I have not heard of those books before. Are they any good?"Jae asked after a moment, thinking it was best to change the subject. He might have been playing with Bastion before, but it was clear that Jae was sincere with his question. Before college he used to be an avid reader and picked up any book that looked interesting to him but now it seemed all he was reading was a mountain of textbooks. Ugh, and he still had to finish studying too...ah well, that could wait for the time being. Talking to Bastion was a nice change of pace for the time being and he had enough of textbooks to last for a lifetime. ~~~ Bastion Lewis

Pale lips parted momentarily before they closed just as quickly. It was really all Bastion could do to bite back a sarcastic response to the purplette’s question. He wasn’t feeling particularly friendly toward him at present, after all. In fact, he sort of wanted him to go away. What kind of person did that, anyway? The more he thought about it, the more upset he seemed to get about it. He took a deep breath through his nose, nostrils flaring momentarily, before he finally decided to give an answer. “I wouldn’t know if I haven’t read them, now would I?” Ah, so much for not giving a sarcastic response. He couldn’t help it, though. Bastion could be rather touchy at times, and this was apparently one of those times.
And that smirk was enough to fuel his anger and bad mood anyway. He continued to clutch the books to his chest, his golden eyes as cold as ice as he regarded the other man. He wanted to say something else. He almost wanted to pick a fight, though he would surely lose. He clenched his jaw, turned on his heel, and started toward the front of the library to check the books out without another word.
