As owners of a large company, they wanted their son to eventually take over their duties in their stead. From the time he was young it seemed that Jae was very bright and picked up on everything quickly. With the pressure placed on him by his parents, Jae pushed to set himself apart from the rest of his class and scored at the top of his class for years. His parents were proud of how well their son was doing certainly, but Jae wanted to do something more than just be another slave to his father’s company. However, whenever he mentioned something different from inheriting the company, his parents would have none of it and demand that Jae do extra studies to make sure he gave up on his foolish ideals. Nevertheless Jae would not give up on these ideals so easily and began to rebel against his parents. Instead of the academic classes that had to do with the world of business he was being groomed for, he chose to take classes that delved into the world of art. He especially loved to sing and play the piano and see the joy that came to people’s faces when he did so. Unfortunately, his parents did not see things in the same light and sought to discourage hobbies that had little or nothing to do with the business and even threatened to cut him off. Jae however would not give up so easily and pushed the matter further by spending more time away from home where he could be himself. It was nice not being the teacher’s pet for a change, at school, his parents weren’t there to govern his every move and Jae relished it. He started staying after school with the excuse that he was studying for his classes in order to get into a good college. This however was a pretty little white lie told to appease his parents because in actuality, Jae was helping various clubs including the host club. Jae thoroughly enjoyed making other people happy; it was the only place he could truly be himself and not worry about pleasing his strict parents. This however was short lived as one night when he was walking home from a party that had gotten out later than he had expected. Jae was already forming a good reason as to why he had been out so late when he was hit by a drunk driver, fracturing his sternum and breaking several ribs in the process. The ambulance got there shortly thereafter and rushed him to the hospital only just barely managing to save his life. It took months of rehabilitation and his parent’s support through it all before Jae was able to walk again. Something changed in Jae after the near death experience however possibly due to the concussion he had received in the accident. Regardless of the cause, Jae refused to be under his parent’s thumb anymore because he wanted to live his life the way he wanted and not have his future planned out for him. Of course, explaining this to his parents was easier said than done to say the least. One day, Jae was staying after school once again helping the host club when his parents came to see how he was faring in his studies. When they saw what their son was doing and had in fact been lying to them for the longest time, they were enraged. Ayaka especially was furious that the heir to a well-known company was wasting his time being a servant. Jae tried to explain calmly that this was who he was and that he truly did not want any part of the company or the business. With that, Ayaka disowned Jae and cut him off from any of the family money. Left without a home and penniless, Jae had no choice but to move out. Thankfully he had enough money saved up to fly to the summer home near Georgia where he would attend college and find a job as an intern. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make ends meet. When the event occurred, Jae didn’t know what to make of the gods that so suddenly showed up and claimed that they were now part of some game of sorts. The wish honestly surprised Jae but after thinking about it, he wished that he could go through college without paying anything back. It was simple enough but then Jae didn’t have many things that he explicitly wanted other than the huge financial burden lifted off of him. As it turned out, the wish was not the only thing he was granted as it seemed powers were given to him to supposedly help with this game. Insignia Level 1 Jae’s insignia is a couple of matching katana blades crossing each other directly over his heart. Passive – Jae’s passive is a blue and white Chinese dragon about the size of a miniature train set. Veritas is a know it all and enjoys pointing out the obvious or boasting about how much he knows. He is able to breathe blue fire but usually only to torment Jae or threaten to burn his long hair off. Generally speaking, Veritas is a pacifist but testing a dragon’s patience is never wise. Memory Recall – Level 1 – Jae is able to recall anything that he has seen, heard, touched, or even smelled before in his lifetime when he touches or presses on his insignia. Much like photographic memory, it helps him to remember minute details that could be important but would otherwise be easily forgotten. If he uses the power for too long however he gets severe migraines that are similar to a horrible hangover if not worse. As of right now Jae can only use his power for up to 3 consecutive posts before the headaches get too bad to manage or he blacks out from cognitive overload. If he abuses the power too often he runs the risk of being blinded for the remainder of the day (or thread). Extra Jae is able to play the piano fairly well as well as sing but he doesn’t showcase his abilities that often unless explicitly asked.
