Warm air circulated around the man’s arms as the sun shone down brightly. Spring had finally arrived, and despite some random cold nights, the weather had been rather beautiful lately. In spite of everything, it did make him feel a bit better. He was pretty sure that just about everyone started feeling better when spring arrived, though. There was something rejuvenating about the season, it was perhaps his favorite and it always had been. Wrists and shoulders rolled as he stretched, joints popping briefly before he fell back into a normal stance. Golden eyes stared out over the ocean for the briefest of moments before the man fell into a well-paced jog.
It had become somewhat his routine to go jogging down the beach in the morning, especially on his days off. It was a bit later in the morning than he normally would have started, but ever since being trapped here he had been experiencing a certain… lethargy that was becoming harder and harder to overcome. He wasn’t quite sure what was wrong with him. He had never had a problem with getting up and attending work before, but it was becoming increasingly difficult the more time he spent here.
Thoughts of his daughter caused his stomach to twist uncomfortably, and he increased his pace, willing them away. There was nothing he could do about or for her, so there was no point in worrying. The thought was supposed to be comforting, it was supposed to help, and yet all it did was make his stomach twist up tighter. He came to a rather abrupt stop, leaning over his knees as he struggled to force air and in and out of his lungs. What in the world was wrong with him? He hadn’t been running that hard.

It was only when the warmth of the sun came back in Spring that Sagira ever realized how much she missed it. It was only when she could trade long pants in for capri and exchanged long-sleeved shirts for sort sleeved that she realized just how tired she was of wearing heavy clothes. It was only when she caught herself staring outside rather than in class at the professor that she realized she needed to get out more. The minute all of this had come to a head, Sagira had been practically dying to go to the beach. She wanted to go feel the warm sand between her toes and stare out at the ocean. She wanted to feel the designs of Spring and Summer explode in her mind from such sensations. Most importantly, she wanted muse, inspiration to make more trendy clothes.
That Saturday, she’d decided to pack a day bag and make the trip down to Georgetown. She’d let Sudi know she was going out, and it wasn’t like he couldn’t call her. Taking a simple bus down to the beach side, she’d got off and started down the small hills to the water. Managing to fish a small hand-held polaroid camera from her bag, Sagira lifted it and began to snap pictures. Catching the gulls as they broke in and out of the water with catches, snapping shots of the waves crashing on the beach, and finally grasping images of the grassy areas she’d exited from, the young woman smiled as she worked. There was always so much to see on the beach. Too bad there weren’t more people just yet. Surely they would come for the summer at least! ‘Yes but it isn’t summer,’ a sarcastic thought echoed in the back of her head. Sagira fidgeted, groaning softly to herself. I didn’t need your opinion she mentally snapped back before continuing on.
Treading down the beach still snapping shots here and there, Sagira would not readily notice the man who had stopped short to catch his breath. There was too much more to see, or so she thought, right up until a small curved sand hill had her slipping, and crashing forwards. A sharp irritated ‘ugh’ hit the air wherein a scream might have been.
