History
Elias Taylor was born to a woman who quickly gained his ire much too early in life. Elias was the product of a wishy-washy relationship that she could barely remember the name of him. Elias never got support from his father and if it wasn't for the small trust fund that his grandparents set up, he was sure that he and his sister would have been broke if it wasn't for them. Elias didn't find his ire though until he had a sister. Around three years old, he doesn't remember much- besides being very lonely occasionally.
His sister was the perfect playmate. Bright hair like his and even brighter personality from the get go- the three year old kept her company as much as he could. Three turned into six, and he was already taking care of her before she could form too many words. Sarah was a beautiful little girl and he did everything he could for her. He couldn't stand her crying when she did- his mother curiously absent. Whether she was on medication and mixing it too much or just plain depressed- she rarely left bed besides to cook for the children.
Elias can at least give her credit for feeding them- but he was quickly used to figuring out how to crawl up on the chairs and make sandwiches and use things that didn't require an oven- even if it took him a bit longer to figure out. He was able to use the microwave for his sister's food like a pro- so at a point, Elias was quick on the uptake for his sister's sake. His eyes were quickly becoming more and more pronounced as he learned things with ease- as long as he watched other people.
He watched his mother make food for herself, watched TV, used the computer no matter how slow it was and asked neighbors for recipes. He would stare down his mother and shove the list in her face with little care and told her to get the food. She brought them into the world, she had a responsibility. She was an irritating woman, but she was his mother. He had sympathy for her but he also didn't care for the way she used money and didn't do any work when she got home. If a six year old could do it, she could.
His next door neighbor was the starting catalyst when she realized what exactly the boy was going through. She had seen boys like him pass through the cracks before. Like her own grandchildren. Seeing the plight of the boy, she started to talk to him about homeschooling him. Same with his mother. His mother and him manipulated the family to the ends, getting the money so he could stay home and learn- and take care of Sarah. After all- he was six, almost seven years old, he had already missed a year in school.
And it was utter hell.
Elias was quickly put under every microscope- drilled for hours while his sister slept and he felt stupid- over and over again. This woman was a tyrant! Was school always like this?! Unknown to him, he was excelling, but he was quickly thrown into the next subject without much thought, making him feel lesser and dumber. He cried many a time, feeling stupid and would do his best not to worry his sister but he felt like a failure. It was ridiculously hard- how was anyone supposed to learn this!?
When his sister was six- she was finally able to be accepted to daycare. He had to go to school.
And then he realized it was...utter ease.
Where were the multiplication tables? The division? Why were they talking about ridiculous leprechaun stories and talking about bloody dinosaurs? He was confused. Why was this stuff so easy? Bewildered, he made it through the first few years of school with surprisingly good grades and he stared at the teacher with confusion in his eyes every time he got good grades. "Why?" Would be on his lips all the time. "Why?"
Why wasn't he being challenged? His 'teacher' drilled into him day after day to the point where he could use small multiplication and division. Read books above his grade level. Feeling almost oblivious, he returned to his 'tutor' and flushed with anger when she laughed in his face. She said that over each weekend and during the summer- he would be taught by her again.
Flash forward, guess what, it was still utter hell.
Constantly tasked with all kinds of things, he felt stronger and better. He ran more, he had more confidence in himself as he could take care of his sister and get good grades. Sarah was growing stronger and smarter. She was going to go to school soon and he couldn't wait! However much to his surprise, Sarah was having trouble. He stared at her baffled when she came home in tears with a C. He awkwardly set off to tutor her as well, feed her, clothe her, do whatever he could to make sure she felt at home and safe.
He wasn't that good at teaching- but his sister had more grades closer to A's than B's, so he considered that an accomplishment. As school grew harder for him, he seemed to excel more. Friends were kept at a distinct length- seemingly too painfully independent for his age. Projects were mostly done in his name, and he made quite a few enemies that way. He didn't seem to care either. He would actively taunt other children if they stepped in his path. It was surprising how the child who agreed to whatever his mother and sister said could become this downright monster.
He would smile and talk about the most chilling of topics about what he had seen on TV.
More than once he was called into a teacher's room and scolded- but he only gave fake apologies.
This went on year after year. His mother would continue to decline, he would pick up more responsibilities with his own, and he would grow more and more angry with the world. This continued past into highschool- which were basically day in and day out motions for him. Sarah was a beautiful woman and fiercely independent to everyone else but her brother, so he felt like he accomplished something.
However around this time, his mother found the 'light'.
He's still thinking it's basically a cult, but she had become more active and more open minded. Helpful and trying to do her best in her children's life. His sister was more accepting to go to church but he would be dragged and he would sit there dissecting the pastor's sermons like it was going to kill him if he didn't. However to his surprise, he met one of his first two 'friends' he could call them anyways.
Connor, a bright eye little annoying twit that had a smile that made him thinking of an airline landing strip- and his little sidekick Hayden. Hayden seemed his type, dark- brooding- wears all black, but he's strangely....a completely tame kitten. It threw him off as he started his 'job' that he was forced into by family into insurance adjusting. He's not a fan- reading why people kill each other and blame each other...it's just more of the same.
However when the event happened, he could at least say that he was stunned into silence.
What the hell. Who are you. What is this. Why are you talking. Why is there a bird. What is up. What is down? Why are you laughing?!
All he heard was a crow cry when he woke up to a check in his bank account with too many zeros to count and a raven that seemed to quote Edgar Allen Poe at every bloody opportunity.
No seriously. It was annoying. Quoth the raven his ---
Insignia Level 1
Slicer - A unique insignia in the fact that it incorporated a pre-existing scar. On the inside of his elbow where he had burned his arm, a 'v' like black shape with two arching sides appeared. Using his right arm, he can swing it to the right or left and send out a green-bluish-yellowish slice of energy that can has the force of a good punch to the face. It can demolish non-living things such as a door or rock if one could kick/punch through it, but living things cannot be affected by this force, and can only react as if they were punched- the energy becoming more of a 'circle' than a 'slice' outwards.
Shay - A raven who seems to enjoy 'quoting the raven nevermore', she's rather chatty and seems to be able to read Elias mind more than Elias can himself. She's rather friendly, if not a bit snippy. She's an average sized American Raven- slightly bigger than the crows in Georgia- but she has two silver rings around her legs- that don't seem to hinder flight.
Extra
- Enjoys Action Movies - While not considered a aficionado or buff, he certainly loves movies with explosions and rebellions. He cheers for the underdogs and likes to take things a bit too seriously. He enjoys their stories as well. He's one who isn't against the occasional book as long as it has a good story about rebellions and strong characters. He's not a fan of dragging anything else into it- rebellion and rise and that's it.
- Loves Instrumental Music The thing that everyone expects least in his head (Which means it's something easy to guess for everyone else) is that he loves instrumental trills and beautiful pieces in working in harmony. People's voices are subjective- but how you play an instrument is something completely different. He enjoys the sound- and it's probably why he pokes Hayden to let him hear him play his violin.
- Great Cook - Since he had to grow up cooking for himself and Sarah- he's become accustomed to either blowing up the kitchen trying or actually succeeding. Still, he prefers simple meals and simpler snacks. What can he say, it's food. Unless it's a special occasion, there's no reason to spend nine hours cooking it. However recently he cooked a three course Thanksgiving meal all by himself, and he likes to be praised for it even more.
- Always says the wrong thing - In times of great stress, do not come to him for advice. Someone who's as cruel and vicious as he is says it as is...and tends to make everyone else cry. This isn't to say that he doesn't try to fix it, but his first thought is to be completely honest, no matter how much it hurts someone. It's painful for him since he's gotten slapped before by his sister and sometimes had to console two crying women while more confused than when he started.
- Favorite season is Spring -Strangely enough- his favorite season is spring. He loves the new smells in the air, the green on the trees, and the baby animals. This might because he simply remembers how happy his sister was around baby things and new starts and he feels comforted by it. Don't let him hear you knowing that though! You might get punched in the face!
