History Akio Rowan was born to two parents he had no idea how they even got together. He was the youngest child with an older sister, Ciara, who was often abused by their father. Akio was rarely the target, he would often hide and watch as his sister took most of the beatings. Late at night, the two siblings would secretly stay up and have conversations. Ciara had always told him she'd protect him, which in truth is the reason she often received the brunt of everything. But Akio wanted to be the one to protect her, he just didn't know how.  Once, during one of their father's outbursts, Akio attempted to do something to make it stop. He rushed in there, trying to block Ciara from getting hit. This ended up badly, for not only was Ciara treated much worse, but now Akio was also receiving nearly as bad treatment. Still, he could never understand what it was that their father disliked about Ciara. It was then, when she was 15 years old, their mother had secretly signed her up for a boarding school in Washington in order to keep her safe. Akio waited until he was of age to join her at that school. Aside from his older sister, Akio pretty much socialized with nobody. Like at his old school he always kept to himself. He never wanted to be bother, and he never bothered anyone else. Having friends was something he felt he didn't need, that is until one fateful day in Literature Class he was assigned a book report with a certain Celeste Cross. The girl was quiet and fragile, which made communication rather difficult. At least both the two were readers, and were able to agree on reading a really thick novel called Sunless Era and Climax by an author they never even heard of.  What would bring the two to spend more time together outside their study was at a certain festival the town held every year. Celeste had not been to it, but Akio was there along with his sister, who ran the Archery Booth. Some arsonists had decided to target the festival, and all Akio could remember is being inside a burning game booth with rubble piled on him. He suffered smoke inhalation and had a bleeding gash down his chest. His sister suffered a head injury and temporary blindness. No matter how many times he assured Celeste he was fine, she wouldn't have for it and went into what later would refer to "full out nanny mode" 'till he was nursed back to health.  Even so as he recovered, they were able to finish their project and got a high grade. The book had a terrible main character and a stupid ending, which the two made many inside jokes about in their time together. During Christmas time, Akio felt inclined to get Celeste a gift. She had become someone very special to him, and he ended up making his poor wallet bleed out $250 dollars for a necklace with her initial. Again though, criminal activity would abound, to which a gang of robbers would hold up many stores and he happened to be in one of them. Akio ended up getting shot three times, but luckily two were grazes and the one that did hit missed vital organ. To his horror, Celeste had been on the same street that day and was knocked out, her only injury to show for it being a slash that was not very deep.  It was that day which Akio would blurt out his feelings, though not in a very nice way. Celeste always had self-esteem issues, and no matter how much he tried to explain in his own way her worth, she would spew out so many self-loathing things to the point he snapped. However, even in this situation, he was finally able to tell her---or show her, rather---properly once he gave her the gift. Akio is not really an impulsive person, but in this moment he was---he simply scooped her up and kissed her. Her reaction was confusing to say the least, but at some point she was able to return his feelings and they eventually began dating. But, as fate would have it, that would not last very long. Celeste was a foster child, and was now being bounced off to another home. For awhile, they were able to keep in contact. Phone calls, e-mail, text messages...you name it. Even letters on rare occasion, but eventually they just stopped. He had nothing to reply to, and he could only safely assume that it was due to her being bounced off from home to home more rapidly than before. That was logical, maybe even the truth, but a part of him felt bitter about it. Once again, he continued not to socialize with anyone, as Celeste was the only other person he cared for that wasn't his sister. He knew Celeste's home life wasn't good, and there was nothing he could do to help her. Akio felt just as helpless as he did with the failure to properly protect his older sister.  It would seem fate would, though, would have a strange twist. Akio has no idea how it happened, but one day he woke up in some other city he has never heard of. He was approached by some kind of being, claiming to be a god of sorts, and offered to make a wish. A wish...? Why was he here, anyway? While nothing was explained, for some reason a feeling in his gut made him wonder if he was summoned here. But who would wish for him? It never crossed his mind, but it seems this thing wouldn't go away until he wished for something. Reluctantly, he said, "Then I want to bring justice to those who deserve it. Especially on those who bring physical harm." He was given an insignia which seemed to give him abilities afterward. He was unsure of this place, and for awhile barely made any interaction except what was needed until he finally accepted the fact he can't leave. He later applied to Barclay. Also mention where the mark is on their body. Example: "Eagle Eye" - Level 1 - It gives this character the ability to have enhanced vision for fifteen minutes. The user can see extremely small and fine things, but if used too long the character might get a migraine or go temporarily blind. The mark is what looks like a scar right above their eye- and the user must touch the scar to activate the ability. or "Companion" - Level 1- It gives the character the ability to summon a companion for fifteen minutes. The user can interact with this companion as if they were real. If used too long or stressed the companion becomes mentally unstable and reflects the stresses of the user's mind. The mark is on their hand looks like a triangle tattoo on the back of their hand. Remember to include the passive! The passive could be something like a companion that is not able to access the insignia abilities- or just a simple orb that is designed to be a foil or annoyance to your character.
