It was beginning to warm up again. Living in a shitty apartment where the air conditioning only worked half the time meant that this was bad news for one Desmond Walsh. He hated summer, he hated being outside in the summer, and he hated all the horrible sunshine and heat that came with it. When the air conditioning was on the fritz he had two choices: lay on his bed and stare at the wall with the fan on, or pack his computer up and go to some kind of internet café. He couldn’t use his computer when it was ninety fucking degrees in his apartment, mostly because it would overheat and the last thing he needed was for it to break. He wouldn’t be able to replace it, not to mention he’d likely never get another one that didn’t need a charger.
A hand moved to his pocket as his fingers brushed gently over a flash drive that rested there. Thoughts of his nightmare were the first thing that entered his head as he felt the fluff on the end of it. He shuddered slightly, chewing on his lip briefly before he removed his hand from his pocket. The drive was a reminder of the dream, but of course he still used it. It was useful! He could deal with a bit of anxiety when he touched it, and besides, that was already beginning to lessen. The dream had seemed so real, perhaps it was in some sense of the word. Perhaps it was as real as everything else in his life. Which, it was honestly debatable whether or not his life was even real.
But these were thoughts for another time, and they were expertly pushed away and repressed. He had a friend to meet! Leo! Much like a couple of his other friends, he’d known Leo for years, but of course he’d never actually met the other man. He found it odd that so many of his friends had ended up in the toybox. He wondered how and why that had happened. Had it been planned or was it just pure chance? Ah, who the hell knew? He bounced on his feet slightly as he pulled the door to the diner where they had agreed to meet open. He found a table and settled, and when the other man walked through the door, he would wave to get his attention. As if his bright blue hair didn’t garner enough attention by itself.
