Two years after the breakout. The nation is scattered and the law of the jungle has long been reinstated, where it's survival of the fittest. Some thrive in a world of chaos while others hang on to dear life and every day is a struggle. Some people are more desperate for survival than others and will resort to more drastic measures, whereas others will try and keep as much of their humanity intact as possible.
The US military is no longer an authority, and is heavily distrusted after some soldiers started purging in the name of their country. Now there are militias, both good and bad vying for power of what once was the United States. There are settlements run by people offering what sanctuary they can to those who seek it. And there are those, the restless spirits; people living like nomads constantly on the move one step ahead of a fate even worse than death.
