His mother had convinced his father that they could be a family and he agreed. But it soon became obvious that Leo’s father wasn’t ready, he ignored his lover’s affection and even would change the subject when the baby was brought up. When she was six months pregnant, he left without a word leaving a note describing how sorry he was and that he wasn’t ready to be a father and some money to help her get by. She began desperately looking for her lover but he was sure to not leave a trace. Devastated, she tried to fling herself down the flight of stairs in her apartment but was luckily stopped by a neighbor. It wasn’t until Leo was born that she snapped out of her depression, it was love at first sight. In the first year of his life his mother would spend every moment with him, she loved Leo with every inch of her life but it was hard to take care of a baby all alone. It wasn’t too long before Leo’s mother slipped back into her depression, she would ignore a two year old Leo when he would grab at her, or yell at him when he cried. She knew she couldn’t take care of him anymore. When Leo was 4 years old she took him to her brother’s and made a deal that not only would he receive her benefits for taking care of Leo but that she would send him money she made as a bonus if he took Leo in. His uncle agreed and Leo was left in his care. Leo never saw his mother after that, and his uncle would rarely speak of her. Growing up with his uncle was a horrible experience. They would go without power, food, or water because of his uncle’s gambling and drug addiction. He would watch his uncle be beaten by debt collectors and bring home prostitutes or other promiscuous women. School was just another battle, from the beginning of kindergarten Leo was the target of bullies. His quiet and shy nature made it hard to talk to other kids so he was alone most of the time. He would have things thrown at him in class, pushed into the sand at recess, and beaten up after school. This cycle continued until his first day of the sixth grade when he met Lily Agnew. The two of them grew close in the sixth grade when Lily decided to walk Leo home claiming they take the same route and she was new. At first Leo was suspicious of her motives as no one, especially a pretty girl, would’ve wanted to be seen talking with him. After that Lily declared Leo her very best friend and they became inseparable, she would meet him in the morning to walk to school and after to walk home. With her around Leo was bullied less and less, her presence made him feel safe. But in the start of the eighth grade Lily started to ignore Leo and drift away from him preferring to hang out with her newly made friends. Leo desperately clung to her friendship until one day she told him he was just dragging her down. Those words dug deep inside of Leo’s mind and never left since. Lily’s abandonment hit Leo hard so much so that when a classmate was mocking him for sobbing over Lily “breaking up with him”, he leapt over his desk and landed on top of the student and started to beat him to a bloody pulp. After middle school Lily moved states and Leo hadn’t heard a word from her, though personally he was happy about that. Leo moved on to high school where, after a rumor had spread about him being a violent psychopath, the bullying ceased but he would still here his peers whisper about him. It was here where his social phobia became prominent and he did everything in his power to avoid people. Instead of working on his social phobia, Leo indulged in movies, video games, and anything else the internet had to offer finding that escaping into a fantasy world was much better than dealing with the real one. To fuel his obsessions he would often steal money from his uncle when he was passed out, leaving his uncle to believe whatever Leo told him. At the age of 18 Leo decided to drop out of high school, he took his GED instead so that he could spend more time enjoying his hobbies. He wasn’t concerned with finding a job or continuing school, he wanted to be left with his collection. However when Leo had woken up one day, he found his uncles room was cleaned out and he himself was nowhere to be found. Leo did find a note tacts to the fridge explaining how his uncle split town to avoid a large debt and out of the kindness of his heart left Leo enough money to survive for a few months. But obviously that wasn’t going to last forever so Leo had to sell a few of the apartments furnishings to get by. He was surprised when he found an envelope full of money in his mail with a note saying, “I’m sorry.” From the feminine writing and the fact there was no return address he could only assume it was his mother who heard about his uncle ditching him. It was enough to pay the bills and feed him and after that he received a sort of allowance every month which would barely cover his living expenses. When the event occurred he was bewildered. It wasn’t that he didn’t believe in a god, just being presented with one wish by one wasn’t something that happened in real life. It happened in movies, books, or video games. Still, he set aside his disbelief and came up with one simple wish. He wanted to remember what his mother looked like. In his hand materialized a single photo of his mother in a hospital bed smiling, holding to her chest a newborn Leo. He had never seen the picture and was overcome with emotion. He was then given the power to halt time, but only at the expense of losing his own time. He doesn’t understand what he’s suppose to do with this new found power but feels like in this game he’s utterly useless. Insignia Level 1 Pause Key - Level 1 - Leo is able to stop time for about 10 seconds. During suspension he can interact with the world around him, objects or people, though people won’t notice his interactions. Pause Key activates . He can extend the period of suspension and even use it one after the other but doing so begins to wear on his body. Extended suspension can cause shortness of breath, fainting spells, or tightness in the chest. these are the side effects of Pause Key’s drawback, it saps time from its user's own life. However long Leo uses it it will take the equal amount of time from his own lifespan. The longest time he’s been able to hold Pause Key without passing out is three minutes, but he was exhausted afterwards. If Leo passes out while using Pause Key it will deactivate on its own. His insignia is a digital clock tattoo over his left breast that reads 1:30. Passive - His passive is a digital stopwatch with time segmented into hours, minutes, and seconds with the hours able to go into the hundred-thousands. The stopwatch records how much time Leo has used with Pause Key and does so automatically when Pause Key is activated. The watch’s main function is to help Leo keep track of how much time he has lost on his life. The watch has proven to be indestructible and doesn't work except for when recording Pause Key. So far the watch reads; 64 hr: 42 min: 50 sec. About two days have been taken off his life already. Extra - Has a terrible social phobia, when someone gets too close to him a knot forms in his gut and he’ll become anxious, and any physical contact makes him nauseous to the point of vomiting. - Has a large collection of movies, books, and video games, all which he bought with money he pilfered from his uncle. His favorite movies and books are horror genre and he is unmatched at most video games, although its not like he really has anyone to play against. - His birthday is September 3rd making him a Virgo. - Likes to read psychology books and blogs to help him understand social situations. - Took a picture of the photo of his mother so he could see it at any time, the real photo is in a frame on his nightstand. - Loves barbecue but also has a nagging sweet tooth he can't ignore, he loves pastries and cold sweets the most. - Favorite animal is a Tiger ironically.  - Leo is actually a very talented artist and writer, if he had to choose a career for himself he'd want to write graphic novels. - His insignia is his name in leet speak.
