History
What should have been a preventable occurrence- Lyssa and Gerald found themselves with a child much too early. Spencer as he would be named was a child who was a complete accident. Lyssa tells herself if she had been more forceful with Gerald- her child would never be born. It was something that Spencer would later on come to realize in his mother's journals. Born on a cold wintery November, Spencer was already a special child. White hair and rather bad eyesight, he was classified as an 'Albino' rather quickly in life. His immune system wasn't too terrible- but Gerald consistently kept his child away from the outside world so they didn't have to deal with any hospital bills.
Gerald, a soldier and Lyssa a hairdresser- their salaries didn't cover too much for the child- and they loved each other but not so much the child they had been saddled with. Spencer was an extremely active baby, sticking his hands in to everything and had gotten into one or more things which faced rather inhumane and vicious punishments. Early on, he was quickly cowed into obeying his father and mother- scared of the things they would do. It was only when an elderly woman- a relative of the family saw his scared demeanor that she actively sought to raise the child. Her husband recently passed and she had no one in the house she said- and with less things to deal with for a child- her parents quickly threw Spencer at his elderly aunt.
The boy refused to go outside- and was easily scared of the new life he lived- but his aunt took her time and schooled him. They bonded over black and white detective pieces and they would set up little things to do together. Money was sent to them from his parents- but they rarely had anything to do with the boy. His aunt, Marissa was a very sweet and lively woman who almost always was there for him. Going to school, he quickly learned he was above average. Skipping two grades- he found himself in third grade from Kindergarten. Extremely smart and extremely quick to catch on...he found he couldn't connect with his peers and grew suspicious of them when they were nice to him. He grew particularly mean with children his age and would insult them to the point of tears quite often.
Of course as a child who skipped grades- he was no longer 'cool' and he viciously fought his way out of fights and did what he could to make a name for himself. Spencer Grant the /detective/. His extreme distance from other people and his extreme emotional problems that made him obsessive and clingy- his smarts were the only thing he seemed to have that everyone could unanimously agree on a good trait. He seemed to listen to his aunt and any other elderly people, but easily ran terror control on those who claimed to be his friends. They were all just like his parents. Bratty people who couldn't handle responsibility. He didn't want to deal with that. Screw 'em.
The one thing that people noticed quickly though- is a odd skill to observe. He could walk into a room, barely look around, and be able to tell how many hats were in the room. His aunt, continued to coach him on different ways to use his brain. He felt special, important, better than the other children. His aunt, so consumed with grief that her brother would abuse a sweet child never told him any different. It was only when he got a reality check with someone breaking his arm and him cracking his head open did he really find that he had his own mortality. It was a strange thing to feel the world losing shape around you.
It...was scary. He finally felt fear. He stared into the dragon's jaws and was paralyzed. His aunt, screamed and howled about how her child- her child, not her brother's- was hurt and needed to be saved. It was able to be fixed and he had to deal with a cast...but he changed slightly. He grew slightly more clever in his attempts to undermine people and learned how to be a better 'snake in the grass'. However he was darn sure he was not going to let people get the one up on him. Laughable fools, he quoted to himself many a time.
As he entered highschool, two years earlier than most- he quickly learned that a small child like him was not welcome. People were crueler and people wanted to hurt him. They were his father, they were his mother. They were looking for faults. He was going to let them see nothing but perfection. He was going to befriend then push them over the edge. The only person on his side was his aunt, he had no purpose to play around on strings for these fools. As a junior, he realizes that time is not on his side. These people want to tear him up and spit him out.
When the event happened- he wasn't sure what to think. Never religious, at least not to the extent of his grandmother, he awkwardly asked for his aunt to come along with him. With that, she woke up the next day seemingly cool and calm while he had a minor breakdown that there was a /cat watching him take a shower and was talking about how he looked naked/. Since then, he's learned his powers...and he's not sure why, but they might be useful someday.
Insignia Level 1
"Chronos' Jump" - Level 1 - For about thirty minutes each day, he's able to jump to a form older than himself. One being two years older, and one being four years older. Each of them have subtle differences from his current 15 year old form. Height, weight, hair, what have you. His eyes are distinctly red in each form though- and each of them share pale skin. One would consider them all 'albino'. For about thirty minutes, he can simply shift form. He gains no other abilities than that. When he switches back, he has major aches and pains and often finds he can't walk sometimes and the stress attacks him in general.
"Cassy" - Passive - A small white cat with big expressive eyes is the 'sidekick' that no one wanted but Spencer. Quick to jump and and the two to take off on some ridiculous adventure, he's extroverted, bouncy, and in general enjoys a lot of what they do. A good pair together, Cassy (or Cassie depending on who's spelling it) the two seem inseparable. In fact, Cassie seems to be the only true friend that Spencer has for his age.
Extra
- Wears glasses/contacts - He prefers to wear glasses- but he has switched to contacts when he darts about outside on his adventures. Glasses are a constant however in school because he prefers the way they look. He has several from no-rims on the bottom, plain jane black ones, to one with elegant trim that he got the frames from an old woman who croaked and adored him.
- Wants to be a detective - The one thing stopping him is his health really. He's not physically capable enough to pass any tests. It irritates him, but he's a natural at learning to read people, law, and just general anything he practically obsesses over to an unhealthy degree. It was at this time, that he felt that maybe a Private Investigator would be easier. That way he doesn't have to deal with any tests!
- Insomniac - Spencer's mind is constantly running. It's a never ending stream of conversations and he's gone two days without sleeping before passing out and almost cracking his head open on the dining room table. He takes allergy pills to help him sleep, simply because no doctor is going to give a kid that young sleeping pills.
- Has a serial-killer novel collection - Maybe not the best for an advanced fourteen year old- he enjoys reading about the way people think and why they feel they must take away other people's lives. Despite all his anger, he's never wanted to kill anyone. Understanding it- he feels- will help him never get to that point though.
- Good Cook - His aunt is a lovely woman, and being a child who feels like he needs to help out the good person in his life...he's taking up cooking. While he's a hazard with flour and messy things- he can cook and make rather good dishes. It just takes twice as long to clean up after him.
