Alastair almost let his head hit the back of the seat he was sitting against. He was tired- he hadn’t slept for at least three days. He was learning that nowhere in his home that he was really safe in sleeping away from memories. To take his mind off of things- he decided to take Jack into town to pick up some food for the whole animal-family in his home. He was much more used to seeing the streets backed up- but since the walls had went up- the traffic was always minimal if there ever was any. Not that he couldn’t just abuse his stupid siren- but that wouldn’t exactly be…professional. Not that anyone in this bloody town was professional. He held back the eye roll- even if he wasn’t around anyone. Jack whined from the backseat and didn’t get a glance from his auburn-haired owner.
“We’ll be there in a second. You might see one of your friends.” He murmured- turning on the correct street. Jack was always too excitable in the car which only served to distract lesser folks who hopped in the passenger seat. Selene would probably coo at it and try to climb back and cuddle it. The low sounds of instrumental pieces dancing from the speakers however reminded him it was a simple illusion. His wife didn’t like his music- liked irritating pop and happy gospel music. It wasn’t his style- but he never told her to stop listening to it or turn it down. It was something she loved- and he loved her. When they got to a parking space- Jack barked making Alastair wince and turn around to the excitable black and brown dog. “Shut up.” He muttered petulantly.
His ears were sensitive- Alastair didn’t need them blown out because the dog was excited. The dog only stared at him blankly- panting and wagging his tail. With an actual eye roll he got out of the car- and opened the back door. The dog paused- knowing it’s training rather well to stay still until his leash was taken. When it was- he quickly leaped out of the car- practically winding himself around Alastair’s legs. With an irritated sigh- the detective closed and locked the car before letting the dog lead him into the pet store. He wasn’t even sure why he came there normally- but now this place did have the best price on dog food.
The dog paced back and forth as Alastair got a cart- looking around for a special someone. This special someone was Xavier- who had been rather nice to Jack and Alastair didn’t mind since someone else tired out Jack so he didn’t have to. As they walked past the place where all the Aquarium things were all set up- one glance down the aisles to see white hair and blue eyes and he let the leash slide from his wrist. “Get ‘em.” He said simply- the dog bolting towards the white haired boy.
Okay, Alastair might be a bit of a jerk.
