History
Born to a father that was the dean of medicine of a public hospital and a mother who had been recently given the position of minister of health, young Alexander was born in the lap of luxury, everything given to him since he could still remember. No expenses were spared to ensure he had a comfortable and wealthy lifestyle, along with a very decent education of course. But all in all? He would choose an average life, with his parents earning an average income and living in an average home in the middle of the city. Money wasn’t everything, this bright lad had discovered that very early in life.
Given their positions in their respected jobs, Alexander’s parents were pretty much absent from his childhood forward, babysitters and hired help the people responsible for most of his upbringing and education. Tutors, maids, chefs, escorts; his whole life was filled with nothing but unfamiliar faces, rare being the times when he actually spent a full day with either one of his parents and even more rare to spend with them both. Sure, they were often on holidays together once a year for a month, but it was mostly spent touring through whatever country they had decided to spend some “family time” together, but it was still not enough for a child obviously. When he acted out because of that, he was scolded and lectured. This happened every so often, gradually becoming as rare as the time he spent with them.
He had grown to resent his parents, but instead of resorting to childish outbursts, he began to gradually become more and more distant of the need to have them in the first place. He was really was a smart boy despite his age, putting two and two together in his mind. The maids seemed to care more about him than his own parents, they spent time with him and taught him well. Same with the tutors, who, though very strict, bestowed upon him both knowledge so he’d have an outstanding education and discipline to be an upright citizen. Did he really need people that hardly gave him the time of day? No. So while he did become more and more emotionally distant, he was kept afloat by the kindness and attention of others around him, growing into what his parents wanted him to grow into, but had little hand in it.
Still, he did his misadventures while he grew up into his teenage years, fights being very common in school and outside considering his status as a unspoken “popular and cool” kid. He didn’t care much for the title, he just wanted to be left alone to do what he wanted without being disturbed or harassed. But trouble seemed to always find him, especially when it came to girls, as for some reason he would always get into some random mess over them. But the thing was, he never showed the least bit of interest in them, ever since he was a kid. It wasn’t because of “cooties” or any childish notion carried from his childhood, but just because people… Weren’t that interesting from a social point of view. Sure, they were fascinating for their anatomical, physiological, biological and psychological value, but otherwise? They were just troublesome to deal with. Still, everyone needed friends right? And though he was mostly a loner, he did make sure his social skills were still exercised so as to not lose them.
In that he didn’t have much of a problem, since he always wished to work for his own money. Though his parents would argue, they’d also see how that would help him build character and such, allowing the boy to get his first job as a paperboy, taking care of destribution a few blocks away from their house. As he grew up, so did his job opportunities, but they were always second to his studies. So small part time jobs were taken by him, nothing too demanding of him really and mostly supervised by another.
There was an emphasis in “perfection” when it came to his upbringing that carried on faintly to the current day, brought upon by both his parents and tutors as they intended for the boy to follow his parents’ footsteps. While he did had the idea of becoming a doctor, he certainly didn’t enjoy the notion of following the footsteps of someone that would be as flawed as leaving their own son’s childhood in the hands of other people. Don’t get him wrong, he was grateful he wasn’t abandoned like so many children out there, but still… How could he not hold some resentment towards two parents that are strangers to him?
As soon as he was entering college, he formally informed his parents he was to study in another state, wanting to get somewhat far from them, but close enough that he wouldn’t be separated from his closer acquaintances. It was an heated discussion really, even worse given it was one of the very rare times they were all together, but it had to be done. It ended with both parts compromising. He would indeed study medicine in a college in another state, but it would be in Georgia, a state or two over. He’d be staying in the small manor there previously owned by his uncle before he decided to travel through Europe. The staff tending to him would be chosen by them, although it would be limited to a maid to clean the house. He wanted to live alone, but it was the only way they would let him leave so it was better than nothing.
Next month, he was already all set in his house, waiting for whoever they chose to “babysit” him to come. He was expecting some old woman, much like the ones from his childhood were. While bless their kind hearts, at times it seemed he was growing old from just standing near them. Much to his surprise, it was a girl about his age, just standing there in front of his door and introducing herself, saying she was the new housekeeper. He actually stared at her for a few seconds before nodding and welcoming her in.
There was something about her, something he couldn’t put his finger on. Sure, she was a very appealing female, but that couldn’t be it, could it? He shook that feeling off, as he needed to to execute his plan. He would strike a bargain with her. She could just leave him alone and go back to whatever she wanted to do, getting the payment from his parents regardless. That, if she kept her mouth shut about it and didn’t breathe a word to his parents. Sounded appealing enough of a deal, didn’t it? He expected her to take it on the spot. He was surprised though, when she showed quite a lot of fire after he insisted she took the deal, telling him she would do the job she was paid to do and it was final.
He really wasn’t expecting it. Was it that fire in her he detected earlier?... She wouldn’t budge, lecturing him, her supposed boss, about how she wouldn’t take the easy route and all sorts of mentions that that wasn’t her way of doing things. And how he shouldn’t have even thought of such a deal. She was… Unlike any other girl he had seen in his life. She was… Actually pretty damn interesting. He wanted her close, to learn more about her. So he figured he’d let her do her job, as she wanted. She’d get the money honestly and he’d get to discover this strange rare creature that had caught his attention. it was win-win for both of them he supposed.
As time passed by, he began to understand his maid more and more, seeing her for all that she was, a strong and independant woman that worked to the bone, never pulling back any punches and being someone anyone could look up to. Sure, she was extreme on many things, but in all honesty, even he felt like he paled in comparison to her. She was… a very interesting person, wasn’t she?
When the “Event” transpired, Alexander didn’t know what to think of it. It was something illogical and utterly random, not to mention troublesome to him. He wouldn’t complain about it and find a way out of that mess, were it not for the fact that the college he was attending wasn’t placed in the toybox, leaving him with little choice but to attend one of the very few that had made it inside. Well… At least his maid also made the cut apparently, for better or for worse. All that was left for him was to adapt to this new change, his laid-back attitude helping him be comfortable enough, even if the conditions were unsettling.
Insignia Level 1
”Lightspeed” - Level 1 - Alexander is able to travel short-to-medium distances in the blink of an eye, but only in a burst of speed, not able to maintain that accelerated state for long. The process in which he uses this power is simple: he chooses his destination, he activates his power, he travels to the destination and halts his movement upon that spot. Constant usage of this ability may cause him to be driven to exhaustion, along with leaving him unable to even stand from the strain upon his body, muscle ache being tied to this.
His insignia takes the form of a pair of small, metallic, wing-like additions sprouting backwards from his ankles. They pulsate with emerald-colored energy and emanate it slightly whenever Alexander uses this ability.
Passive: Alexander’s familiar is a very energetic, emerald-green carbuncle, which is akin to a long-eared and twin-tailed rabbit with a gem upon its forehead. Lovable, endearing and filled to the brim with energy, it speeds close its master, appearing as a streaking emerald light unless he chooses to slow down.
Extra
Four-eyes: Though he doesn’t require them to see clearly, he does need them when it comes to reading, as his eyes become toos trained from intensive reading without them.
Cook: Almost surprisingly knows how to cook one big, healthy and delicious meal, usual from scratch. He mostly centers around Japanese, Thailandese and European cuisine when he cooks.
Good At Every Damn Thing: While this is an exaggeration, he’s proven himself quite a few times he’s very competent in both physical and mental trials, which mostly centered around various sports and school exams. He’s also very good on the piano, though he isn’t a true musician material.
Brown Belt: Given his father insisted that he should learn to defend himself, Alexander was enrolled in a Judo Academy since a young age.and has since then rose up to a brown belt, leaving the academy shortly after an incident with a peer that had a small outburst and needed to be disciplined.
Captain Ahoy!: Is the captain of the swimming team at East Sumner Community College. He got this position after being accidentally “scouted” by the PE teacher during a friendly race with the previous captain.
OOC OOC Name: Chesh. How did you find us?: My future self told me of this place. Other Characters: Many others. |
