The holidays were officially over, and Harper was feeling much less frazzled for it. While the white-haired woman certainly adored everything having to do with Christmas and New Year’s she tended to run herself ragged during this time as well. She didn’t realize it, of course. If one were to ask Harper she would insist that she was taking excellent care of herself no matter what. Forget the fact that she was forgetting to eat and sleep. But none of that mattered anymore. The holidays were over and Harper had fallen back into a much healthier routine. The next big thing coming up was Ken’s birthday, and that wouldn’t take nearly as much planning or work. Not that she wouldn’t put a lot of thought and planning into it, but it was much easier to do that for one person than for all of her family and friends.
She pulled her car into a parking spot and stepped out into the frigid air. She had her hair in a neat braid down her back, otherwise it definitely would have gotten blown all over the place. A soft smile could be found on her pale features as she opened the backdoor and pulled her bass out. It had been a little while since they had all practiced together, with the holidays keeping them busy, so she was rather looking forward to it. That was probably why she was the first one here, she was a little early after. She slipped her fingers through the handles on her bass’s case as she walked up to the building where they held their practices.
She flicked on the lights and removed her bass from its case, setting it on the stand before she bustled around the room to straighten things up a bit. It wasn’t very messy, not really, but it was a habit of hers. Thereafter she sat her purse down and pulled out several bottles of water and some homemade snacks that she had made. No doubt they would be hungry and thirsty later, so she made sure to plan for that. Finally she removed her jacket and set it off to the side, stretching her hands above her head. Neither of them would be very long in arriving at this point if she had to guess.

Ken would be the second to pull up into the parking area, only a few minutes after Harper had disappeared into the building. While he preferred to walk most places in Georgetown, it was too difficult to maneuver his drum equipment that way. At the very least he got the drums down to reasonable packed states to where it was easier to carry and move, but he would scantly want to drag those boxes and cases any number of miles. With a gentle but firm grip, he unloaded his drums and equipment and managed to maneuver a good portion of it towards the front with little trouble. Two trips would have to be made in order to get everything, but that was fine with Ken. He’d rather take an extra trip out than have even the smallest possibility that his new drum set be ruined by folly.
Pushing open the door, Ken continued inwards giving a small nod to Harper as he passed. “Mornin’ Harpsichord,” he spoke allowing a small smirk to come to his features. “Ready for some practice?” Setting down the drum set carefully, he turned and started back towards the front. “I’ve got a new set of drums that I’ve been testing on and off again.” He continued making simple conversation.
Ken couldn’t remember if he’d mentioned that he’d bought it before. He knew at the very least he’d mentioned he was keeping an eye on the price of it. Normally an expensive set, the drums were high end quality, but with frugality in hand, Ken had waited patiently for their prices to drop enough to something he could afford. When they had, he was all over the deal. He’d continued to use his other drum set during practice out of habit, testing the new one only at home. Now, however, he wanted to test it outright alongside the rest of the band.
