- Optional in depth personality if one wishes. History Kimberly Ann was born in a very turbulent time for the Lewis family. She was an unplanned birth that could not have come at a worse time. Her mother and father Cecilia and Gilbert were in a strained relationship that was almost broken by infidelity. They both kept as busy as possible in their jobs to stay out of each others way. However, other than finding little time to spend with Kimberly, they were not cruel or neglectful. When they did spend time with Kim, whether together or individually, they showed her their love for her. This was later though. It was her older brother Bastion who was the father/mother figure in her life. Bastion swooped in and took her under his wing exclusively. He filled the void left by her parents and gave them the space they needed. Kimmy needed coddling and he was there for her. He spent nearly every free minute with Kimberly. They were practically inseparable.
Her oldest brother Atticus was never mean to her, but he was like mother and father, always too busy and hardly ever around. Even when he was home, he was always sleeping or otherwise inaccessible. Kim hated that. She would intentionally do things to get his attention. She was not patient at all, to his ire. But he was never harsh with her. He'd let her drag him away to whatever she wanted to do at times and played for a while before patting her on the head and passing her off to Bastion.
She savored her small victories, but never succeeded in making him like Baz. Baz was her precious. They did everything together. He'd play dolls and dress-up and pretend games. He let her tag along wherever he went. They even bathed and slept together. The late night blanket fort games when everyone else thought they were asleep were the best. She'd be the princess and her shining knight or prince would brave the creepy creatures of the night to fetch her treats from the fridge.
Life was a giant fairy tale and she was happily ever after... Until he started High School. Kimberly herself was in her second year of elementary school when her prefect world started to crumble. Suddenly there was homework, studying, projects and reports. Not that those didn't exist before when he was in junior high, but there were friends now. Boys she didn't know would come over and Baz would be busy hanging out and studying. Her precious would leave and not come back for hours. He'd play with her when he was home, but these times became fewer and fewer. Kimberly would put herself out and pout. Baz always promised to make it up to her, and he did at first.
Then came the girlfriend.
Kimmy had just turned 5 when Baz brought a girl with him to the birthday party. Kimmy didn't understand. Not until Addy showed up and started making fun of Bastion. And even then, she was confused. What was a girlfriend? And why would Baz go up in a tree? And what was kay-yai-esesess-sing? And why was Baz mad and the girl laughing? Not that that matters. Rose was nice to Kim, but she was in the way. Every time the girl was over, she would not leave her brother alone. And Kimmy couldn't get closer or play. She'd always take his attention away from Kim. And she was over a lot. And when she wasn't then Baz was always out.
Kimberly grew increasingly frustrated with her and his friends and her brother. She didn't realize it, but she started competing with Rose for his attention. She would do and say things that earned her much desired attention, but those things also got her in trouble half the time. She was spying on them one time and saw the girl rush in and press her lips hard against her brothers lips while they were talking. But it was more than that. As she watched from her hiding place, Kimmy grew angry and confused. Baz never did that with her. Was that girl more special than she was? Why hadn't he taught her that? Or was it Kimmy's fault?
Later that night when he returned from taking Rosalie home, Kim surprised him when she tried to duplicate what she saw Rosalie do, but only succeeded in pressing her mouth to his for a moment. She had no clue what she was doing. Her teeth hit his and she recoiled in pain. Her hand to her mouth produced blood from her lip caught between, at which point she ran away, even as Bastion finally reacted after the initial shock. There was a long talk after where her spying was addressed, as well as reminding her that she was not old enough to understand certain things.
Kimberly slowly walked away. She was normally a shy girl and never talked back to her brothers. She stopped at the door, but didn't turn around. She simply said: "Can't I go with you when you go out?.. Like i used to?" Her brother started to talk, but she knew what he would day. She ran away.
On the day that the world as she knew it would change, Kimberly awakened to a light caress of the cheek. "Baz?" she squeaked sleepily. He was the only one who would wake her that way. Kimmy had a habit of sleeping in his room instead of hers. She did so whenever he was away for more than the day, and her brother didn't complain in the past. He'd just curl up around her and let her be. But Kimberly was not a toddler any more. She was getting older and her parents and brothers had started to insist that it was not proper to sleep with her brother any more. "But I'm so warm. I don't wana go. Just one more time, k?" She whined softly. Her eyes still closed. "Time?" A voice asked. "Is that you wish, little one?" It asked anew. Kimberly was still half asleep. She knew the voice was not familiar, yet she didn't feel the need to investigate further. The voice was soothing. Beautiful. Non threatening in any way. But who else would it be but Baz? "You're always gone." She squeaked as she rolled over on her side and brought her knees up like she always did so Baz could curl up behind her. "I'm so lonely. Wish... I.... could....... follow............." She whispered as she drifted off to sleep.
"Ah, I understand now. I shall grant your wish, little one." The voice whispered back. But Kimberly only half listened. She drifted off into a dream of being visited by her fairy godmother and being asked to make a wish. A beautiful hummingbird fluttered down thereafter. Kimberly giggled as she held out her left hand. The bird landed on her open outstretched palm to her delight. It nested there and a tingling sensation was felt. A gasp would escape Kim's lips then. A beautiful tattoo appeared in her hand and the bird spoke her name. They became fast friends and he told her the most wonderful story about the magic of the tattoo. She woke up to the sound of chirping in the morning and was delighted to find "Kip” perched on top of the head board.
Insignia Level 1
Her insignia is a compass rose located on the palm of her left hand. She can activate a quick line of site teleport by staring at the target area and clapping her hands together. With practice she will be able to activate a long range teleport by placing that marked palm on her forehead and concentrating and clearly picturing in her mind a place she has been before within the God's play area. For now, however, she must rely on her familiar to serve as a waypoint or anchor. A beacon of sorts. Her teleportation is preceded by a flash of visible light given of by her aura as she briefly enters and exits a void between origin and destination similar to a black hole. The color depends on her mood at the time of entering. There is a stigmata of a faint rose scent at the departure and arrival sites.
Companion \ Familiar - passive- A hummingbird she named Kip. He spoke with her telepathically in a dream on the first day to explain her gift. To her disappointment he has not said a single word after. However, he seems to understand what she is saying for he does what he is told. Kimberly has quickly learned to interpret simple replies based on the birds actions and sounds. Kip cannot access her ability, but Kim can teleport to wherever Kip is whether she has ever been there or not. She often sends the bird after her brothers and pops in at the most inconvenient times to their ire. Kip always know where Kimberly is and will always find her. If she ports away from him he will follow unless told not to.
Teleporting - Level 1- Teleporting is the movement of a physical body between two places by entering what we'll call a "void" and exiting that void at the desired location within the play box of the Gods. The void itself is a plane of existence that is barren, cold, and lacks oxygen. Ideally, with a clear picture of the destination, passing though this void takes a second. If the destination is not clear, it causes friction. Friction is like turbulence to an aircraft, only Kim's body is the aircraft in this case. The less clear the picture, the more time the teleportation takes, the more severe the trauma and injuries due to the turbulence which could last up to 60 seconds in the worst case. If Kim looses consciousness before she exits the void at the target destination, she will be ejected from the void in a place some where between her point of origin and the desired destination.
Teleportation draws on her stores of energy and requires intense concentration in the case of a non-assisted long range port, which she needs to master to do on her own when she reaches Level 2. Energy must be replenished with rest and nourishment. She can do a simple line of sight port safely four times in a row from a fully rested state. Less if tired. Ideally she should rest at least 15 minutes between line of sight ports. Teleporting line of sight or "short" distance requires clear sight of her destination and is limited in distance to what she can clearly see. So perhaps <300ft. There is no air in the void between ports so she will become winded and dizzy in a chain of ports and is prone to migraines due to the mental strain. This is in addition to becoming tired from the drain on her energy.
Teleporting long distance requires Kimberly to use her familiar as a beacon. She can go to wherever her familiar is whether she's ever been there or not and does not have to worry about the dangers of not having a clear picture of her destination. Otherwise she must have been to the destination before to remember a place properly. It cannot be done from a photo, image, or memory of a movie. Any delay within the void subjects her to the turblence.
Long distance draw heavily on her energy reserves. Kimberly can complete a single safe port. Rest is needed after for at least an hour before she can risk a second, if not, Two in succession could render her exhausted and even incapacitated if she was not completely rested prior. She is limited to three a day if rested and nourished properly at min. 3 hour between for the second, and 6 hours before she can recover enough to attempt her third jump. After which she would require 24 hours to be completely recovered at her age.
Kimberly was told the energy required to transport an additional person is extraordinary so she cannot port someone other than herself at her age. If she was to try to teleport \with \ someone in tow, although possible, very bad things were certain to happen unless she reached Level 3 first. Kimberly asked what would happen and only got a shake off Kip ’s head and a warning that it should never be done unless her own life would end otherwise. A last resort. And a one way trip. There would be no hope of a second for many many days. Kimberly was persistent and Kip finally told her that along with the turbulence she would have to endure for a full 60 seconds which might kill her, if she lost consciousness due to the beating, her companion would certainly suffer splinching upon being ejected from the void on top of the turbulence beating. To her horror it was explained that splinching was loss of limbs. Anything from a fingers to whole limbs or worse.
