Autumn wasn’t her favorite season- but the one leading up to her favorite seasons. As she parked her car- she stared at the grey steering wheel for a second before sighing. She was doing her normal volunteer work- feeding one of the cat colonies. She liked to think of them as one giant group to be honest. She had named most of them- trapped and freed others after a basic spay or neuter surgery to make sure they didn’t add to their own problem. Finally grabbing the handle to the door she exited the vehicle and stared around the empty parking lot. One, two, she saw four cats right off the bat. She gave a small smile- seeing two cats she particularly enjoyed being around. Popping the trunk and closing the door- she slipped her keys into her pocket and grabbed her two cases- putting them both on the ground. Several cats- before she even opened her mouth quickly gravitated in her direction- simply for the food. The parking lot was behind a few buildings, usually left alone. There were a few homeless around she knew of. Vita didn’t see any of them yet- but she always tried to help them out as well. Personally, she had no wish to help human beings, but they were like her so she couldn’t completely shut them out. “Vita! Vita!” She heard behind her- and she turned around partly after she was finished rearranging the trunk to stare at a brown tabby who was currently was staring up at her with green eyes. She gave small smile to them- used to seeing them. Since the wish granted the ability to hear animals she felt more welcomed. “Hey Hershey.” She greeted in a low tone as she picked up the last case and set it onto the other two. It only had a few sandwiches for anyone who decided to come by. With that she pulled the three cases stacked on top of each other with ease. Hershey trotted after her- tail high in the air and chattering animatedly. Of course she was sure it only sounded like a vocal cat to anyone else- she heard him talking about catching a bird and seeing his sister. She only commented on a few of them with a ‘really?’ or ‘wow’ used to his chatterbox like behavior. Finally she got into their normal spot- and raised her voice to call “Come on guys!” It was their simple call- and several cats squirmed into view trotting towards Vita without much of anything but the idea of food on their minds. Hershey wound around her ankles multiple times asking for some treats- but she only reached down to pet his head and told him to wait. She didn’t turn her eyes to the alley- because usually anyone who did show up were rather nice and helped her quite a bit. When she saw there were no more cats coming- she pulled off the two top cases to open up the bottom. She pulled out a small cup to pour some on the ground and move a few steps away to repeat the process. No one tended to fight if she spread out all the food. When she finished and sealed the case back up- she looked up thinking she saw a shadow in the alley. Narrowing her eyes a little- she pretended not to notice as she returned to the other two cases. “You know- the rules state if you get your shadowy behind out of the corner- I feed you.” Vita commented as she pushed some hair back behind her ears. “I don’t need you playing secret agent, I have a sandwich for whoever is there.” Probably some shy homeless person that didn’t want to show their face. She knew the type. She also knew she had a knife in her pocket should she need it. Hopefully the person was just going to come out and show their face though- since she really didn’t need to fight with someone today. Tag:@ Theodore Rasputin

Theodore complained as he wrapped himself with new bandages, having tossed the old ones, currently stained in crimson, into the nearby garbage can. It had been a couple of days since he had been jumped by that lowly group of damned cretins, but the wounds were still stinging and live, damned painful too and always leaving that annoying mark upon the clean white bandages that an acquaintance of him had managed to come by. They had come out of nowhere, armed and catching the young man by surprise. Though he was able to make sure at least two of them wouldn't be laughing, the others surely made a number on him. From his acquaintance's mouth, it had been a pure miracle how he managed to not go blind from his left eye, which was already taken care of and bandaged cleanly. The arms, hands and right leg? Still in the works and at the time giving him quite a lot of trouble.
"Urgh... Damned goons...", he gritted his teeth as he tightened the bandage upon his leg, above the knee, remembering the basics taught to him by the old man that had raised him better than his real old man. Disinfect, bind and make sure it stayed clean. A little hope it wouldn't infect also didn't hurt. Luckily, he seemed to be more resilient than he appeared to be in terms of recovery, never having any problems with it. Of course he had the help of a few pills his "friend" that had treated him thankfully, but that'd mean he'd have to pay for them sooner or later. It was always troublesome, but there was nothing he could do but endure. It wasn't like it had become any harder living in the streets, it was still the same really no matter how long you dwell in them. Though now without his safe haven in that warehouse, having been overrun with "rodents", he wasn't left with much ground to stand on that he knew. And he hated that. Payback would be meaningless though, considering they were part of a bigger group. This would just continue on until he was dead, that's how it worked.
Sighing heavily, he moved to his arms and hands, struggling to find a decent position that would allow him to take care of them comfortably. The alley leading to a parking lot wasn't all that equipped with seats and tools for it though, which was unfortunate indeed. But he was resourceful enough, turning a garbage can upside down and sitting upon it as he took care of his, luckily already healing, injuries. Troublesome, but somewhat effective even if stability was an issue. It was good enough for him.
Eventually he was all done, looking at his work to make sure everything was all set before he started cleaning up, tossing whatever he wasn't going to use anymore into the nearby container. The rest was placed into his backpack tucked nicely, leaving the pill bottle upon his hand as he looked at it. They were supposed to be taken after eating... He knew better than to take any of those on an empty stomach, but he wasn't exactly with an abundance of food and his rumbling, aching stomach said as much. It managed to echo through the alley, much to his frustration. It only made him sigh though, placing the bottle inside the pocket of his jacket and his backpack's strap over his shoulder, the young man decided he should forage for something to eat so he could take his medicine. It was already past the time for them.
As he took a turn to exit the alley into the parking lot, the young man noticed someone close by, the sudden increase in cats suggesting she was most likely feeding them. He backed away slowly back, hiding himself from sight while peeking out around the corner. He was right it seemed, she really was feeding the cats and had food with her. A thought crossed his mind, to scare her away and take off with whatever he could get his hands on. But for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to, his cold-blue eye gazing at her, examining her it seemed. He noticed she was... Well... Appealing. Though he was a homeless, he was still a man after all, her hair what he found the most pleasing though for some reason. It just seemed flawless, silky, smooth, as if it became part of the wind when a gust passed by. It was weirdly mesmerizing... He wasn't sure if he was just weak from the hunger and wounds and thus not in his right state of mind, or he just... He shook his head, figuring he should just go through the other exit that was somewhat far away.
It was then that he heard her address him, his presence noted by her. He cursed between closed teeth, not enjoying her words at all. He wasn't one of those damned cats! Who did she think she was?! The thought of intimidating her and steal from her suddenly was tempting at her reaction, but he didn't want her calling the cops or something of the sort. Like hell he could run in the state he was in. Plus... She did have food. His pride wouldn't let him take anything as if he was some damned stray cat though. He narrowed his eye and cursed to himself, only to simply sigh and move out from behind the corner, stepping into view. Such a sorry sight he was, especially with all those bandages. He hoped that was enough to scare her away. Maybe she'd forget the food behind? That'd be good.
"Tch!... No one is playing secret agent... And I'm not a stray cat," he replied to her, making his best effort to walk normally but clearly failing at it. He exited the alley, standing there momentarily and looking at her. He didn't feel like indulging in whatever attention she might give him, his eye did go for the sandwich she held though, pondering if he could just... No, he wouldn't. He was no damned animal and he refused to be treated like one. Rolling his eye and ignoring the food, he simply turned to the side and began walking away, grumbling out, "Damned crazy cat lady...", followed by a slight wince as his wounds continued to torment him. He still had to find a way to get some food to take his pills, which sadly didn't help with the pain. But he'd manage it. He was strong and he'd get through this without anyone's help.

The cats were lovely creatures- kind creatures at the least. Since she could hear them now- she amused herself with listening to their conversations. They…were surprisingly in between base and sometimes great empathy. It was amazing. She heard a mother tell her children to eat or she was going to whack them- and another male complaining how he was still hungry- she didn’t come around enough. A small smile was on her pale lips as she listened to the conversations. She…didn’t want to give this ability up to be honest. There was a part of her that always knew these conversations existed despite the logical statements that cats were simple creatures. There was a part of her that loved these little moments. They were like humans- but politics, sickness, the world…it didn’t exist for them. They didn’t care about what was happening continents over. They didn’t care about sicknesses that was everywhere. They just cared about their one little home. She only gave a small grin when Hershey said something with his mouth full. Cats were just like people to her- this only proved it to her. Vita always loved animals but she can’t say she didn’t enjoy some people’s company…she just preferred animals. Turning back to the cases- some of her hair slipped from her shoulder as she fidgeted with the cases. The long hair she normally put up in braids was loose today as she really didn’t feel like going through the trouble. The homeless person she was dealing with – the shadow – made her feel like it would try her patience. From the look of him when he stepped out…he was going to be rather aggravating. She stared at him for a moment rather blankly before shrugging- not at all put off by his appearance. She could smell blood- a smell she was rather accustomed to from her grandfather’s fits – but she didn’t comment on it. More than likely he was new- or the other guys wanted to teach him a lesson. “I don’t think I ever would think someone like you would be a cat. I’m not that blind.” The ‘crazy cat lady’ responded. She never really saw it as an insult, in fact she called herself that sometimes. “It’s the rules when I come to feed the cats- anyone who shows up and says hello gets a sandwich. You must be new.” Standing as he started to walk away she rolled her eyes. One of them. “Alright, Mr. Ego. Won’t you please take this food so I feel better about myself?” It was said slightly sarcastically as she picked up the box with the sandwiches inside. “I’m such an innocent girl that I find my self-worth in taking care of injured people, kittens, and am determined to save the world with sparkles and sugar.” She continued to speak as she quickly and easily made her way over to him- since he was actually rather slow- and she guessed from his wounds. “I really don’t care who you are or what you’ve done. I don’t care if you’re a vagabond or some ridiculous teenage who ran away from home. Charity is something I like to do. If you don’t eat the sandwiches then I’ll feed them to the cats. At least they’re nice enough to eat what’s offered to them, unlike your prickly self.” She practically slammed the box against him with a blank look. “I honestly don’t care who the hell you are. Want to work for your food? Fine. I’ll give you a job to do. So just eat the food so I don’t feel stupid for offering it to you. You can eat can’t you?” Red eyes narrowed before she turned to the cats who had been at least more interested in the food than this mess. Thankfully it wasn’t a ridiculous feral colony either. Only a few cats had meandered back- so she was pleased. “I’m going to give you some bandages too. If you need reasoning- I’m slightly paranoid about infections and no one should get them. So I’ll give you the roll that’s in my car, Vagabond.” To be honest it wasn’t too ridiculously out of character for her since there were at least a good twenty guys she knew who acted like this at first. Once they realized she was doing this for herself and didn’t really care about what they did or didn’t do- they worked where she asked them to work and they received food and clothes for it. Simple trade for a simple request. “Since you’re new- my name is Vita. I come here every day to feed the colony- and anyone else who comes by. I do this for myself and my views- so I really don’t care who you were are what you did. Just eat your damn sandwich that I give you.” With that she flicked her hand slightly at him as to gesture for him to open the box and eat while she walked past him and back to the cat food. There was just something about her hair that made his curiosity spark, not to mention the desire to run his fingers through it. It seemed silky smooth, the length truly impressive and without a doubt hard to maintain. Was it odd that it was what most sparked his attention? She was certainly gifted when it came to her female features, he could notice that, but her hair seemed to be the focus of his attention. It was stunningly beautiful really. But what did he know? And not like he gained anything by having those random and strange thoughts. Clearly the pain from his wounds was making him loony. He wished the damned analgesics didn't need to be monitored.
She was just like everyone else, utterly aggravating. And to think these people thought they were kind just because they fed stray cats and whatever sad creature that came crawling from its hole, attempting to catch whatever breadcrumbs they could get their hands on. They were just as bad, the two of them! And though he gave her a slight narrow of his eyes from the corner of his eye, he didn't care enough to indulge her in this feeble attempt of self-gratification. Her tone annoyed him to no end, considering he disliked sarcasm and equated it to stupidity when it came from other people. Who the hell did she think she was, talking to him like that? She didn't know anything, she was just some spoiled girl that thought she was the damned saint of all strays, just because she came in with food to feed stray animals. And she had the nerve to talk to him like that, while trying to display a cloaked form of pity? He had dignity, even if he was without home. But she wouldn't understand.
He had place a hand upon the wall for support, the wounds just taking their toll along with the meekness caused by his hunger. He wasn't going far like that, but he refused to stay anywhere near this aggravating girl. So he'd do whatever it took to get as far away from her as he could. How pitiful it was that he couldn't even manage that as she easily made her way to him though? He could only grit his teeth, annoyed by that fact, along with her still yapping her mouth about her damned ideals and oh so perfect and just view. She had gotten in front of him it seemed and had then shoved her damned boxed offering of pity into him. He resisted the urge to cringe or wobble, softening the "blow" with his free hand. He would've just let it fall, if it wasn't for the respect he had for food, so he just held it with the same hand, glaring at her for that display of utter persistence. And even the damned cats were looking at them. He disliked stray creatures like him, simply out of his experiences in the street. He was far too used to them attacking him over territory or just because they damned felt like it for some odd reason. It was eat or be eaten there and that went for everyone and everything.
"I don't need your damned "charity", as you put it. And I have dignity, contrary to your selfish, annoying and condescending view. Tch!", he grasped the box tightly, though not crumbling it, ready to shove it back to her. What stopped him from doing that though? His stomach that though did not emit a sound, certainly silently gnawed at itself, punishing Theo for putting his pride above nourishment. The young adult had leaned frontwards ever so slightly, eye closing tightly for a few seconds, before he sighed heavily after taking a somewhat long breath to recover. There was no way he could just pass out on this, literally. She mentioned she could make him work for it?... He wouldn't be taking charity then, would he? If he paid her, even with labor, that would make this an earnest earning. He could live with that and at least he wouldn't be looked upon like some damned stray animal. "Fine, you damned annoying girl... I'll accept this as payment for whatever job you make me do. Along with the bandages then. Tch," he grumbled begrudgingly between closed teeth. He hoped whatever it was... Wasn't as unpleasant as the ones his acquaintance, that provided his medical supplies, gave him.
Theo pushed his back against the wall, gritting his teeth as he felt his cracked ribs punish him, just before he let himself slide down until he was sitting upon the floor, stretching out his injured leg and positioning the other one to be comfortable. Opening the box calmly, he looked at the sandwiches within, before he took one eagerly and began eating, clearly pleased that he had finally gotten something to eat. It was really good actually, but considering he hadn't eaten for a very long time, he supposed it was only natural for it to taste this good. Her name reached him and was slowly being processed, but he was just occupied at the moment with his newly acquired lunch.
The young vagabond didn't want to look too desperate, so after finishing the first piece, he simply cleared his throat slightly while he took a small pause, still dry as he didn't exactly want to ask for water. He wasn't an animal, he had manners, so an introduction needed to come from both parties, correct? "Theo... My name is Theo... And this isn't charity if I'm actually working for it, you better realize that," he raised an eyebrow at her, before he had begun to tackle the next portion of sandwich, struggling a tad to swallow but indomitable nonetheless. He was stronger than he suggested at the moment damn it!

The fact of the matter is Vita rarely cared about people who crossed her paths. It was nothing personal- but she honestly couldn’t care what someone ambling got them there if they were there. Vita saw no shame in giving what people gave you back nor taking things that they offered. This man was probably near her age but she didn’t see the point to ask. He would probably give some whiny answer in return as he continued to look pissed off. She could see right through his façade. He needed it or he would probably get hurt even more. She might not be a caring person with a bleeding heart, but she didn’t want him to die in the alley either. Plus that would probably hurt her Neutral status as is. Hershey seemed to look at both of them rather curiously from his spot- his mouth open with a few kernels of food in it- but saw that Vita didn’t need his help and went back to chowing down his food like the elegant creature he was. He was grumbling and huffing and trying to show he was the big man on campus. How ridiculously pathetic. If he wasn’t about to keel over. Vita knew he was bleeding and he needed something to probably take care of his wounds. Being in the volunteer circuit, she had plenty of things he could do to work for his food- so if she had to do that she would do that as well. “Oh pity, I ran out of care to wonder what you want.” She gave a small shrug towards him, as if his words meant literally nothing to her. She kept her eyes off of him- her red eyes staring at the cats instead. The half Russian girl only gave a small shrug when he spoke again. “Fine, we’ll make you do a job. I have plenty of things for you to do. We have to heal you up a little more before I let you do the big ones.” Vita finally did turn to him, watching him lean against the wall. There was a small dash of concern in her eyes- but it was quickly smothered in indifference. “I don’t care if you call it employment Theo.” There was a small amused glance. “I am talking to you like you’re not possibly a danger to me and I am inviting you to following me to a place where you can kill me quietly. It’s not like I’m not the crazy cat lady. You’ll notice that some spots apparently evade my sanity.” There was a small wave of her hand. “You want a drink?” She was pretty sure she had her water from her lunch in the lunchbox-cooler she kept in the back of the car. “And if you’re going to ask for your job- then let’s see. You can talk to Hershey or something. Mary just had kittens so I need to go see if she’s alright and producing enough milk and Hershey likes to mess with her.” No, she still hadn’t mentioned that she could actually understand animals due to her wish but apparently that wasn’t on the menu. Theo could only roll his eyes and glare at her when she commented in a very annoying tone, her words also not exactly something he'd be all too happy to hear. This girl was a big pile of aggravation, he had discerned as much from her damned attitude. If he didn't actually need what she had to offer, he'd most likely ignore her existence and make his way out of there before his last nerve was exhausted. People were just bothersome to deal with, he was much better left alone. He'd never admit that he'd be very much screwed if it wasn't for her though, too prideful for that and even worse considering how she reacted. "Good then... Hmph," he replied back, figuring he could keep his dignity that way and pride. Like hell he'd ever owe this stranger anything.
Then, he was too busy with his sandwich, actually finding it to be a blessing indeed. It wasn't that it was a miracle of gastronomy, although it wasn't bad, but with an empty stomach gnawing at him it truly felt like a gift from the heavens above. But she was definitely not an angel, that was for sure. They certainly wouldn't be this aggravating. If they were? He'd rather head downstairs when he finally passed on. Not that he believed in such things, but whatever it took to complement his thoughts on her. But one thing he couldn't exactly deny though, was that while most would most likely either recoil or ignore him, she chose to help him, regardless of anything. It wouldn't harm her in the slightest to abandon him to his luck, hell she'd actually be safer no doubt, since she didn't know what he could do. He guessed it was a good thing she wasn't exactly normal.
To her small little rant, he looked up blankly at her from his meal, replying back quite dryly, "I would've never guessed it," he rolled his eyes as he added, still trying to fight the dryness of his throat back, "In any case, I'd gain little from harming you. So you can at least have my word that I won't slit your throat or whatever comes to your mind." his eyes went to his sandwich, only to give her a slight look of annoyance when she asked if he wanted something to drink, prompting him to just nod, figuring at this point he might as well.
"Talk to... Who?...", he blinked slightly when she mentioned a name. He was confused as to whom she was referring to, not seeing anyone else there but her and the damned cats. The possibility that perhaps she was talking about one of the cats came to mind, Theo looking at one that was the closest and... Quite voracious. She couldn't be though, could she? No... It had to be. She was crazy after all. He wasn't going to sink to whatever insanity she herself had fallen to. Giving a slight sneer to the cat he had looked at before. He hoped she at least was sane enough to give him a reasonable job. But whatever it was, now he was forced to do it. That was what he gained from accepting help from strangers. Troublesome.

When he finally agreed- Vita felt a bit better about the situation. He was hopefully stop going to snarl at her like a pissed off puppy and actually do something. She would try to do her best to help him. She wasn’t sure if she was going to continue this ‘project’ once he was healed- but she wanted to be a thorn in his side otherwise. Angels weren’t some creatures that showed up and could do anything. No- Vita saw herself as a normal human being who would kick someone’s head in to get them to listen to their words. Vita never saw herself as particularly helpful but she saw herself as someone who got what she wanted. Right now she wanted to help this homeless frost-bucket of complaints and he could deal with it. Leaning down briefly to pet one of the cats that purred against her leg- she heard a small squeaky mew. “Thank you Vita.” The cat mewed. The sleek grey coat that she ran her fingers over made her smile faintly. “I’m glad you liked it Smoky.” She murmured- scratching under the feline’s chin. Smokey gave a small catty smile as she walked over to the homeless man- sniffing the air curiously. She could smell the blood on him- and she briefly looked up to Vita as if questioning her. She gave a small shrug in return as she turned her eyes back onto the redhead. “Oh how gentlemanly of you.” She chuckled- moving to stand and walk closer before scooping up Smokey into her arms. Finally she stood in front of the homeless man with the cat in her arms. “Talk to Hershey. This is Smokey. She was curious.” With that she knelt down and the cat hung her head over slightly to sniff him a few times- before she turned her head back to Vita and Vita let the cat slide from her arms and return to the other cats. “Hershey is one of the cats- I want you to keep him distracted while I go check on the pregnant cat. Very simple. I didn’t want you to move that much. I’ll also get a bottle of water from my car.” With that she turned her head a little and clicked her tongue. “Hershey, come meet Theo. He’s going to keep you away from me for a minute.” With that she placed her hand on the cold concrete- immediately met by the bounding furball that she called in the first place. “Come on, meet Theo. Don’t bounce on him- he’s got some wounds.” The cat huffed a little- pouting up to her. “I want huggggs!” He mewled pathetically. She only chuckled and guided him next to Theo. “Stay here- I’ll give you hugs afterwards. You keep an eye on Theo too. If he tries to escape, show him that you can catch him. Theo, you just have to sit here and keep an eye on him.” With that she stood- turning her back on them as she quickly moved off to get his water and check on Mary. She hoped Hershey could get some idea on the man. Hershey may be an annoying mother’s boy sometimes- but he was good with guessing people. Tag:@ Theodore Rasputin

Gods it was bad enough that he had to subjugate himself to hand-outs, but he just had to run into some loony cat lady, that actually talked to cats. He figured there had to be a reason why she was so talkative to them, most likely a power, since apparently now they had been given that little surprise ever since those weird "aliens" appeared and made the whole place their little playground. Either way, he wasn't pleased with this situation, at all. And the fact that she was actually talking to animals seemed to annoy him greatly for some reason. He couldn't exactly tell why, but it was bad enough of a thorn on his side that he wanted nothing more than to either be out of there, or for her to simply shut up. He figured it was from the pain, because hell on earth it hurt! So while it might not be her fault directly, she wasn't helping the very surly and pained vagabond.
At her comment, he could only roll his clear blue eyes, dispensing it and going back to his given meal without replying, as it would most likely only serve to further "entertain" her. That along with her introduction to that cat she had in her arms. He couldn't care less. Only a crazy person would name random strays. Plus he seriously could not tell her how good it was for him, regardless if it was a bit dry or not. It was probably his throat, but he did ask for water didn't he? It slipped his mind if he had or hadn't, complaining slightly as he shifted in the same spot. Pain seemed to be getting worse. He needed to take his damned medication. For what he did for it, he should've gotten stronger pain meds, but he was lucky enough to have them in the first place.
"I'll be sure to start talking to cats as soon as I-...", he was going to make another snarky comment about her being crazy for talking to cats, but it was cut short when he seemed to choke a tad on a chunk he was chewing at the time. He coughed slightly, clearing it right up. Well... That was almost embarrassing... He could only glare at her weakly and grumble into his sandwich, figuring he kinda deserved that for what he was about to say. "Tch... Nevermind... Go check whatever you want, just get me the bottle...... If you wouldn't mind," the last part was strained, him not wanting to say the "magic word" out of childish pouting. Plus like hell he'd want to admit to her that he really needed it. This was humiliating enough as it was, without him begging for water. He knew he should've filled his canteen when he passed by that gutter pipe.
So he was now babysitting a damned furball?... How more humiliating could this get? Fat little thing didn't seem like a stray at all. He was fat wasn't he?... Or... Did Theo just got too used to malnourished creatures that any meat on them would make them overweight? He didn't know, nor did he care, either way he was stuck on watching this damned thing that apparently talked to Vita and requested hugs... The thought of punting the damn thing out of his sight came to mind, but he was never one to harm those that did no wrong to him, even if he had been attacked by cats unprovoked before when he was a child over food.
He glared at her as he took a smile bite at the sandwich, not enjoying her comment on his current state, or so he took it as such. He only rolled his eyes and ignored her when she addressed him, surly commenting with a grumble, "I'm not one of your damned cats for you to order me around...", the sandwich much more deserving of his attention rather than her or the stupid cat.
He continued to work on the sandwich, small bites so as to not choke again, his throat actually complaining from being sore, but his hunger was a more pressing matter than that small ailment. His eyes absently went to the feline, raising an eyebrow as the odd thought of them understanding him came to mind, something to distract him from the pain. "Hmph... I've eaten rats bigger than you...", he commented, huffing and going back to his meal, not caring whatever the hell the cat did. Not like he was getting paid to watch the damned thing.

He was full of glares and huffing wasn’t he? Men. She completely ignored his ‘almost embarrassing’ moment. She wasn’t oblivious to it, but she didn’t care. “I didn’t say you had to talk to him. Hershey just wants attention.” The dual-colored haired woman responded with ease. She held back the smirk at the ‘if you wouldn’t mind’ part but didn’t say anything aloud- turning her head to briefly make sure the other cats were okay. “Yeah, I’ll get you the water.” Vita said offhandedly as she gestured briefly to Hershey who pouted up at her and complained. “Stay. Don’t worry, he won’t bite- and- if he does, bite back.” With that, she turned- her twin tails flying briefly behind her as her scarf dramatically waved without her actual knowledge or consent. As she went and checked on the pregnant cat- Hershey was stuck with the surly man. He huffed at the man’s behavior. While he didn’t know what was being said- he just could only guess that it was insults. He gave the man a blank look when he was looked at. He meowed twice at the man in response. ‘You could be a little nicer’ he huffed. It didn’t take long to Vita to rejoin them- seemingly mildly relieved at what she had found. Mary had plenty of milk in her- which was good since Vita was pretty worried. The team would be out to spay her later in the week- and the kittens would be taken up for adoption. What she was doing with the red haired man. Kneeling down practically next to him, she held out the water bottle which much preamble. “Here you go. Thanks for watching him.” It was said casually as even despite her gruff exterior and normal behavior- she could talk normally. Hershey huffed and moved over to rub against her leg as she absently pet him as she gave a brief look over the vagabond. Once he took the water- she reached into her pocket and pulled a thick roll of bandages. “I have several. If you’re going to be working for me, we need to get you healed up. I have a house in need of repairs- and any place I volunteer at- I’ll be using you. In return you get food, free lodgings, and any medical care you need.” Vita commented- dropping them in his lap. “Once you figure out what you’re going to do and I’m finished here- either you’re going to get in my car, or I’m going to shove you in the trunk. Your choice.” With that, she sat down a few inches away from him, Hershey eagerly climbing in her lap. She hugged him firmly- his fur brushing against her arms as he reached up and bumped her chin and purred. “See, you got hugs, now you’re fine aren’t you Hershey?” She asked the cat who only meowed a happy answer in return. This girl was damn well frustrating, not to mention weird with the whole "talking to cats" business. Was her power that? Talk with animals? Such a weak and useless power that would be. He guessed if you really liked animals that would be a bliss, but to defend yourself from other people with real powers? As useless as a cup of water for someone drowning. He grumbled at the mention of the cat wanting attention, he could get skinned for all he cared, damn stray cats were never kind to him, nor would he be to them. As long as the little bugger didn't bother him, he wouldn't give a rat's ass about it. Pudgy little furball. He didn't like the way he looked at him neither, simply sticking to glaring at it slightly before giving his full attention to the sandwich, which he was still fighting to get down considering he still didn't get his water.
Seemed she was quickly done with the pregnant cat, good, because he was choking on his damn meal and needed to take his damn medicine already. There was a faint look of skepticism as his gazed shifted from her and the bottle of water, but that was out of reflex, as he wasn't used to being shown any kindness, calmly taking it. As soon as he retrieved it though, his thirst could be noted to have been something fierce, as he rapidly unscrewed the cap and chugged down hard enough to have the bottle collapse upon itself. He almost choked on his water, stopping only when the liquid was at half. He panted slightly, letting out a sigh of relief, before he realized how embarrassing of a reaction it must have been, looking away from her slightly, grumbling out a "don't mention it...", when she thanked him for watching over this "Hershey" cat. He then proceeded to go back to eating his sandwich, that was much easier to swallow and enjoy now.
His eyes were locked on her even as he ate though, waiting for the price for all of this to show itself. It seemed she was looking for cheap labor?... If she had enough money to spend on damn cats, she should have enough to fix her damn house. But he figured it was a better price to pay than the one he did for his medical supplies. He shuddered slightly, not wanting that to repeat itself for a very long time... Maybe he wouldn't have to go back now that he had work?... She had bandages and all the meds he needed, save for real painkillers... So maybe, just maybe, he didn't have to do such a disgusting task for basic medical needs.
He was a bit skeptical, eyeing her carefully as his eating became more mannered. "I see... I can do that. If you honor your part of that deal, I'll honor mine," he nodded, before finding the bandages she held upon his lap. He had enough of those, thankfully, but not like having a surplus would hurt him. He brushed off crumbs from it and placed the roll inside the pocket of his jacket, figuring he'd place it with the others at a later date.
He deadpanned at her comment, figuring from her words that he was about to be kidnapped forcefully if he didn't cooperate with her. All he had in the world was in his backpack, so not like he needed to fetch anything. But he was still... Finding this sudden kindness disturbing. She was probably going to slit his throat and feed him to the cats... hell, maybe even the sandwich he was eating was made from a poor soul she "helped" previously. He looked at it briefly, before popping the last bit in his mouth. At least they tasted good.
"Well that's one way to kidnap an injured homeless...", he grumbled as he reached for his backpack and foraged through the front pockets of it. Producing the orange tubes containing the pills, he shook a few onto his hand and placed them in his mouth, chasing them with the water she gave him. He then stored them back and looked over at her, figuring he'd have to go into the spider's web now. "Give me a second... Before you drag me off to some remote place and chop me into bits so you can make me into food for your army of cats," he leaned entirely against the wall with a sigh, trying to gather his strength so he doesn't make a fool out of himself.

She had a feeling- one she didn’t question. This guy was something important. To her, to the cosmos, what the hell ever. She didn’t know, she didn’t really care. If he offed her grandfather in her stay- she could only thank him at this point- so she wasn’t all that concerned. He didn’t seem to mind the cats- or realize he was a stray himself…and she felt a pull to him that she couldn’t really explain. Always trusting her gut, she picked him up like an oversized dog and threw him into the back of the car. Figuratively obviously- but none the less she was going to take the vagabond home. Vita didn’t comment on his ‘honor’ the deal comment. It was obvious what she was asking him to do. Holding out her arms, Hershey was eager to continue to molest her chest and her chin, mewling and purring at her. “I need to bring you home too. As soon as your new shots are up, you get to come and visit your cousins. Isn’t that right?” The cat only mewled to respond to her voice but she scratched behind his ears anyways. “Well if I wanted this painless and didn’t want to go through this trouble, I would have just put tranquilizers in the food.” She answered dryly- noticing the orange bottle – and how it wasn’t prescription. At least legally- it didn’t have a label- it didn’t even have residue of a label. So there was someone who was just giving out antibiotics? The thought made her frown. What did he have to do to get those? Tearing her eyes away to kiss Hershey on the head- she vowed to make sure he didn’t have to do it again. “That would be too messy. I would drain you of blood first.” The woman commented a bit amused. “Take your time, someone will be showing up in a minute to take Hershey off for his shots.” A quiet hum left her- and only a few minutes later- the cats returning into the trees and bushes where they came- only a few kernels left of food left that another car did pull up. She gave Theo a nod, quickly picking up the squirming Hershey was not happy with the noise as she walked closer to the car. Pulling the door open and quickly opening the crate in the back to push a very upset cat into the crate and closing it she smiled softly. “It’s okay little one. You’ll be alright.” She murmured. ‘Vita, I don’t like this, it’s scary!’ She smiled- a hint of pain in it. “I know little one. But this is for you to be healthy and come home with me. You have to get some shots and a clean bill of health.” She told him softly- before adding to the driver “Thanks for taking him, he’s pretty scared though, so be careful with him”. Kneeling down, she smiled to the cat trapped in the crate. “It’s okay little one, I’ll be back to visit you tomorrow on my way home from school. Alright? Stay strong for me.” The cat only mewled its soft ‘okay’ before she closed the door gently. Rapping on the window with two of her knuckles- the car slowly took off down the road as she returned to Theo. “Now to get you, your shots, huh?” She gave him a slightly teasing grin as she gestured to the car- moving to grab the handle of the rolling cart for the cat food and walked back to the car- not waiting for him. If he would want to come, he would come. Tag:@ Theodore Rasputin
