It wasn’t often that you found the young man outside, not very often at all. Even when the weather was mild, he preferred indoor settings. His very pale skin was an attribute to that. While he may not have gotten his father’s red hair, he definitely got some sensitive skin. He was prone to burning even in the winter, though thankfully a thick layer of clouds covered the sky today, so he didn’t have to worry about that.
It was a little chilly, well, perhaps the people who lived in the area would find it to be rather cold, but Desmond had grown up in a much colder environment. That was why he faced the chill with a thin hoodie, and a pair of ripped jeans. The ripped jeans, really, he could do without, but he only had one pair of nice jeans, and he didn’t want to waste them wearing them around every day and get them in the same shape as the ones he was currently wearing. When one could barely afford to eat every day most days, buying new clothes fell pretty low on the list of needs.
He sighed softly as he leaned against the picnic table. Not many people could be found in this area, but he thought it was rather nice. The mosquitoes had died out for the year, and the gaters didn’t like to move around as much in the cold – or so he assumed. Besides that, he’d never actually seen a gater the few times he’d decided to visit this place. He was pretty sure people were just lying about them or something.
His fingers moved over the head of the mechanical mouse that could be found in his pocket. He was rather glad it didn’t require being fed. Surely a mouse couldn’t eat much, but that was more responsibility than he could handle at the moment. He flattened his hand to allow the mouse to crawl onto it, removing it from his pocket and holding it up eye-level thereafter. It squeaked in what he could only assume to be a happy tone, running its little hands over its face in a very adorable manner. He couldn’t help but to grin.

Eaden rarely walked around for many reasons. For one, walking around was excercise, and who had time for that honestly? Then there was that whole sun aspect, which he also had sensitive skin battles with, given his own heritage. Unfortunately for Eaden he goth both the sensitive skin issues and the red-hair from his father, but he had no accent that would have hinted at the fact as he'd grown up in the states entirely. His hair was dark as dye would allow it to be. He had enough for people to pick on being barely above five feet tall so he didn't need his hair being another reasonr eally. The thick layer of clouds over head was something he was thankful for, but it didn't mean that he liked them any. He enjoyed sitting outside and staring up at the sky. You couldn't do that much when the clouds were in the way.
Eaden liked the cold though, he wouldn't deny that, it made it easier for him to seek out warm places to snuggle up into without being thought of as strange for it. Plus it gave him an excuse to wear his favorite scarf. It was black an edged in green which brought the color his eyes to focus a great deal. The vibrant green was one of his features that he was most confident about and so he did enjoy bringing the color of his eyes out in any way that he could. Other than that he wore a loose-fitting sweater, he'd thought it would be enough, but the cold air was biting at his skin more than he thought. At least his jeans provided him with some warmth. So he couldn't complain too much. Plus his shoes and fluffy Christmas socks in them kept his feet warm too.
Eaden had thought it would have been easy to find a short cut home through the area in order for him to reach home, but he hadn't expected to get lost. Surprisingly he wasn't that scared, more so he was just annoyed with the fact that he had to walk around even longer, but it was his own fault for taking an unfamiliar path. Though once he'd come across the picnic tables he'd become aware of where he was once again, but more so happy that there was a place for him to rest.
It didn't seem like he was alone in that idea though. There was someone sitting nearby already, but what the heck was that man playing with anyway? Ah, he supposed it didn't matter either way. He was alone too and no one should have to sit alone in his opinion. So without hesitation Eaden walked over to the picnic table and sat himself down on the bench next to the stranger. "Ah! If it were any colder I would have to be Jack Frost to survive out here. " he stated awkwardly starting up a conversation with the perfect stranger. Desmond Walsh

His fingers were moving lightly over the little robotic mouse’s head when the other man approached him. His blue eyes would flash upward, taking in the male within a few seconds. He was tiny. This was the first thing that Desmond noticed about him, and for Desmond to call someone tiny was really saying something. The brunette might be a full six inches shorter than him, if he had to guess. Either way, his face had a maturity about it that suggested he wasn’t a child by any rights. His blue gaze would follow the other as he took a seat beside him on the bench, commenting on the cold. Huh. Well, he certainly wasn’t used to be approached by strangers in such a way… but he could see no reason to be rude to the man.
He chucked lightly, moving his hand to his shoulder so his mouse could perch there. “Yeah, it certainly isn’t a comfortable temperature.” The man agreed in his thickly accented voice. The Irish accent was so thick that it was almost comical, really. “Tends to get colder where ‘m from, though.” He said with a shrug, displacing the mouse by accident and hearing a rather high-pitched squeal from it. When it was settled once again, he extended the hand that wasn’t attached to that particular shoulder to the other man. “Name’s Desmond, mate~” He introduced himself.

Eaden would have been rather embarrassed if he'd known the first thing noticed about him was how small he was. Though it wasn't really that unusual for people to notice it was always something that made him a little frustrated. He wanted to grow, he wanted to hit a grow spurt and shoot up to six feet, but it just wasn't in his genetics he supposed. Though being that he was no mind reader the gaze given up to him was assumed to be over the fact that he was just some stranger approaching someone that was alone out here. Eaden was nervous as it was so he was rather appreciative over the fact that he wasn't immediately yelled at for sitting down next to the stranger. He'd just looked so lonely there by himself so it was alright--wasn't it? He watched the movement of that hand, noting the robotic mouse, or what he assumed to be such based on it's appearance.
He smiled toward it a bit and to that man while pushing down that nervous twist in his stomach. "Not at all." he agreed over the temperature not being comfortable. Though the moment that thickly accented voice had left the other man's lips his own expression had reflected a bit of surprise and a bit of color upon his cheek. "Colder where you're from? Where are you from exactly? " he questioned with a curious sort of look that remained hinted by the color on his cheeks. That accent is so cute...at least my face feels warmer now. he thought to himself in his own amusement. "Desmond? nice to meet you, mine's Eaden, spelt E-a-d-e-n. Not A-i-d-e-n." he informed with a quiet laugh.

He noticed the blush that warmed the smaller man’s features, even though he didn’t appear to be paying rapt attention to him. Desmond paid attention to the little things about everyone he met, he had to decide who was a threat and who wasn’t. The brunette wasn’t, though. He didn’t usually put a lot of stock into “gut feelings”, but he would be surprised if the man had ever even hurt a fly. Not that he was any more apt to hurt someone, at least not directly. Anyway, that didn’t matter. He found himself wondering what the blush was about, but knew better than to ask. “Eaden.” He repeated, the name sounding slightly ‘off’ on his thickly accented tongue. Either way, he committed both the name and spelling to memory. "'s a nice name~" He complimented.
“I’m from Ireland, well, Dublin specifically.” He went on to answer the other man’s question. “It gets really cold there because it’s so close to the ocean, but the ocean is really beautiful. A lot more so than the one here. And we have channels in the city, with houses almost right up to the edge of them. I lived in one when I was little~” Okay, so that last part was a lie, but lying came as naturally as breathing to the blue haired man, and he was hardly aware of the fact that he had just lied. Oh well.

Eaden could have melted into a puddle right there over that accent. It was a sort of nostalgic accent and he couldn't help but to enjoy the way it sounded. Especially when Desmond said his name. It sounded a bit off still, but he wasn't going to correct him about it. There were very few people who got the pronunciation right when first meeting him. The compliment though, it did keep that color on his cheeks there a little longer, even if he wished it hadn't.
"Oh! I have family there, of course I've only met them a few times, but i guess that's normal for family overseas. We had the best dinners when I visited. I learned a lot about cooking from family traditions." he added trailing off a bit. Though he looked toward Desmond again. He wondered silently what it would have been like to grow up there long enough to be used to that weather. "I bet the water is much cleaner there. Are there a lot of fish in the water there?" He questioned then. He loved to swim, but the idea of fish in the water made him nearly cringe. "How did you end up here? it's pretty far away from Ireland--I think...? " he stated wondering how it was he'd ended up in this place either. He could remember where he was born and where he'd lived, but he couldn't remember how the world had changed. It just had.
He looked around a bit then, feeling a slight uneasiness over the fact that they were alone out there together, but at the same time it was nice not to have to worry about people staring and assuming things. "Did you come out here all by yourself too? " he questioned wondering then if he'd been there with someone that might return and take offense to his approach. Augh! Thinking about someone bigger than him coming back and trying to run him off made him nearly feel like cowering. He took a breath, calming himself as much as he could, though he leaned somewhat to one arm he'd rested to the top of the table.

If there were two things that caught Desmond’s attention, it was food and talking about his homeland. And Eaden had just mentioned both, in conjunction, with each other. Not only was his family from Ireland but he knew how to cook some of the traditional dishes. Just like that, the shorter man in from of him became exponentially more interesting. His features that were already warm brightened and he grinned wide at the brunette. Even the questions that followed, the ones he didn’t exactly want to think about, didn’t make his smile falter. He was already wondering if Eaden would cook for him. Well, he tended to have a one-track mind when it came to food so it wasn’t surprising. Either way, he leaned back against the table as he prepared to answer those questions. “Yeah, ‘m here alone.” He stated, waving his hand with a grin. Eaden didn’t need to worry about any jealous friends or boyfriends with Desmond. Even if he was dating someone, he would shut down any jealousness or possessiveness or he wouldn’t stay. Desmond was his own person, first and foremost, and if someone couldn’t accept that, they didn’t need to be with him.
“As fer how I got here, well…” He pursed his lips, pausing as he considered how much to tell the little brunette. In the end, nothing Eaden did could really hurt him. As far as he could tell, his criminal record hadn’t exactly carried over, so even if Eaden told someone he would have no proof. At the same time, Desmond didn’t want any unnecessary attention being drawn to him. “Well, I was comin' over to stay with some friends for a bit, but that ended up falling through. I didn’t have enough money to go back to Ireland, so I found a job 'n stuff, but then all shit with the gods ‘r whatever they are went down, and I got stuck.” He smiled and shrugged. He hated being stuck here, it made him restless, but that didn’t show on his face. Nor did the fact that he had just lied through his teeth.
