Elias looked down at the note that was grasped tightly in one hand. To be honest, when his sister guilted him into this trip he wasn’t thinking he was going to get lost. He was sure Sarah knew he was going to get lost. The smirk on her pale face was one that he was sure was in horror movies. Squinting down at the piece of paper- the sun glasses did nothing to dim the glare that was reflecting off of everything. He was tempted to call Hayden or someone that he knew to help him find the bloody place. They lived at the beach didn’t they? Then again he did leave at the beach all his life and he still couldn’t find his way out of a wet paper bag. Briefly looking up at nothing to give a glare- he returned his eyes back down to the paper.
All this for a few cupcakes. Elias had scoffed when his sister outright begged him to go spend money on cupcakes he could have just made. He didn’t understand the point. She however knew that teary eyed face was nothing but torture for the older man and he squirmed in his seat as she easily won over him. All this for cupcakes- he reminded himself. Elias thought when he was younger that the ‘puppy eyed’ routine would grow old and lose its effectiveness. A laughable idea in its own right to be honest. Sarah knew of his weakness too and exploited it every chance she got. Elias couldn’t find himself to be mad at her either, despite his ranting at her.
She had done jobs to save up her money to get the cupcakes. He had no say over her money- even as her older brother. Eventually he sighed and gave in, ready to order whatever bloody cupcakes he needed. He wondered if his sister would get angry if he purposely got skull cupcakes instead.
“You stupid-!” He could hear her voice shriek and a chuckle met his lips as he finally got to the corner and waited for the light to change, ignoring the other person waiting for the cross light to light up. There were no cars- but he didn’t exactly want to get run over. This was when his day when terribly wrong- as he heard a shrieked shout behind him. Turning his head briefly- he blanched at the man speeding towards him and the other person waiting on the sidewalk.
As he stumbled backwards- not noticing if the other person did the same- the man shrieked in glee as he pedaled across the crosswalk and shot down the rest of the road- yipping almost like a drunk Chihuahua. There was a pause, before he eloquently replied to the other person standing nearby. “I don’t know what just happened. Do you?” They had to wait two more rotations to cross- why not talk about what he possibly put down as just ‘another occurrence in this crazy-bat toybox’.
