Quite the little actress, Cailyn comes off as innocent and naïve to most people she meets but this is only a means to an end. Being seen as a child makes adults more comfortable around her (for the most part) and more likely to drop their guard and say something that they generally wouldn’t if another adult were present. Her height also works to her advantage, allowing her to hide into small places and listen in on conversations without being seen, which is something ideal for investigating she enjoys doing. Cailyn likes to play the innocent young girl because it gives her an advantage and makes others underestimate her, thus allowing her to use them as she sees fit or take them by surprise should the need arise.
Cailyn plays up the fact that she appears younger than she really is because it allows her to get away with a lot of things. Not all of this is just an act though; Cailyn does in fact have quite the obsession for stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes and has quite the collection back at home, though this is one of her best kept secrets. The only plushy she brings with her is a Buneary plushy that looks like it’s seen some better days, but when Cailyn is scared hugging ‘Mr. Fluffles’ is sometimes the only thing that can calm her down if Izzy isn’t around at the time. Most of the time though, this rather child-like side to Cailyn remains hidden as she doesn’t want anyone else finding out. Other than this, Cailyn is known to have small ‘tantrums’ when overly stressed or panicked but this rarely happens.
When Cailyn has her mind set on something she is bound and determined to accomplish it no matter what she may have to do. She is rather stubborn and once her mind is made up, there’s no changing it unless there’s a good reason for doing so. Though she may look like a child, Cailyn despises being thought of as weak unless she’s purposely acting as such. Otherwise, Cailyn is very quick to point out that she can take care of herself despite her appearance. Cailyn is a little spitfire and actually enjoys getting into fights, no matter what the stakes. Cailyn can fight rather well when she needs to, but prefers more … subtle tactics when dealing with people, usually black mail and threats, before fighting. After all, why waste energy when someone can just as easily be persuaded to cooperate with black mail … of course, all bets are off when Cailyn is in a foul mood as she can be a little unpredictable.
Cailyn pays special attention to her clothes and hair and likes to keep track of the latest styles and trends. She is rather vain to say the least and tries to keep her hair, nails, and clothes in perfect order in case she would need to impress someone or use…other means to convince someone to tell her what they know. Cailyn is a horrible tease and loves to watch people squirm when they’re uncomfortable. Very little actually fazes her when she is teased in return as a result, in fact she enjoys it and tends to treat it as if it were a game. However, if someone should purposely mess up her hair or tease her about her about her appearance, she grows angry and increasingly violent the longer such things continue.
Needless to say most of what other people see when they first meet Cailyn is nothing but a front. In reality she is very self-conscious and constantly strives to prove herself to others. It’s true she’s confident in her abilities however this confidence has shaken rather badly since she saw her father murdered when she was a child. It didn’t matter that she was outnumbered; Cailyn should have been stronger…if she had been then she would have been able to save them. To this day, she still blames herself for what happened to her family and refuses to let anything remotely similar happen again. Cailyn puts little value on her own life and would willingly lay down her life for those she cares about. After all, what value could her life hold if she's just going to lose everything again.
History
From the very beginning it seemed that Cailyn was destined for trouble; born to a poor family residing on the outskirts of a small town, there was nothing truly special about the Robinson family. Robert was a small town doctor that worked late nights in order to make ends meet and Stacy was a stay-at-home-mom after recently being laid off by her job a few months prior to Cailyn being born. The little girl was a joy to her parents and it seemed that whenever they were together all their problems seemed to vanish, if only for a little while. As Cailyn grew, it became apparent that she was a little adventurer, even as a toddler she loved to investigate things and see how things worked or hide in places where almost nobody could find her (which almost gave her parents a heart attack on several occasions). Despite all of this, Robert and Stacy loved their daughter dearly, though they worried about what trouble she would get into at times.
As Cailyn grew, her parents continued to keep a close eye on her though it became apparent the she was capable of taking care of herself, even at a young age. When her parents tried to help her out, Cailyn would always insist that she could do it herself, only asking for help after she had failed several times. One warm summer day when Cailyn was about two-years old, Stacy was playing with her daughter when she felt a sudden pain in her chest and stopped. Robert saw something was wrong and told Cailyn to wait inside the house before moving to help Stacy; Cailyn nodded and went into the house without an objection. Moments later it became apparent that Stacy had had a heart attack, but by this point there was nothing Robert could do to help, not without rushing her to the hospital which was miles away from the house. Even so, Robert did his best to help Stacy and carried her to the house where he laid her in bed before giving her some medicine from his supplies.
Calling Cailyn up to the room, Robert told their daughter that her mom was very sick and the Cailyn needed to be very good and listen to her. Stacy hugged Cailyn and gave her a Buneary plushy (which was promptly named Mr. Fluffles). Cailyn squealed with delight at the presents and hugged her mother before running outside to play with them; a few days later, Stacy passed away in her sleep. When Robert woke up the next morning to find Stacy was gone, he resolved to move out of the house closer to where he worked so that something like this wouldn’t happen again.
After moving to the city, Cailyn spent more time with her dad and even helped him out at work, or at least tried to help. Most times, when she wasn’t practicing her karate, she would just wander around, exploring the area and even listening in on other conversations (despite her father’s objections) when she was bored. In fact, Cailyn got so good at hiding just so she could listen in that her father eventually stopped trying to tell her not to eavesdrop and instead told her to look into being an investigator. Not knowing what an investigator was, Cailyn questioned her father about what they did and soon became enthralled with the idea of becoming one. Soon, Cailyn started trying to solve ‘mysteries’ around Robert’s work, it wasn’t until later that she would stumble across a real mystery.
As the years passed, Cailyn continued to improve her methods of investigating and was known as quite the little prodigy for being able to find out information so quickly. Though of course looking younger than she really was helped Cailyn considerably in finding out the information she needed because although she was 8-years old now; Cailyn looked as if she was around 5. One day when she was hiding in one of her usual places, Cailyn overheard a group of men talking about stealing something very valuable. Alarmed, Cailyn waited until she was sure the men had gone away and ran to tell her father about what she had overheard. Little did Cailyn know that one of the men did indeed see her, despite her attempts to hide from them and followed her to where Robert was working. When Cailyn reached the hospital where her dad worked, she ran to tell him what she had overheard, hoping to stop the men from stealing the item. When Robert heard what Cailyn had to say, he immediately called the police and informed them of what ‘he’ had just heard in order to protect his daughter from danger.
That night when Robert and Cailyn left home from work, they were surrounded by a group of men; the same men whom Cailyn had overheard talking earlier. Cailyn, not having seen the men that were talking earlier didn’t realize what was going on but simply hid behind her dad, frightened at the men that were looking at her with hate in their eyes. When one of the men spoke, asking if this was the girl that they’d seen running away earlier, Cailyn’s eyes grew wide and she pulled on her dad’s shirt, hugging Mr. Fluffles closer to her as she always did when frightened. Robert stepped in front of Cailyn and asked the men if he could help them, the men ordered Robert to stand aside because they wanted the girl; he refused and told Cailyn to run. Too frightened to do as she was told, Cailyn stood there, eyes wide as she gripped her father’s shirt. The men sneered at Robert and advanced on him, some of them brandishing bats while others had knives and guns. Seeing the men heading towards her and her father, Cailyn finally did hear Robert’s pleas to run and hide and ran, still holding her Buneary close, but not before she heard her father’s cries of pain as the men started to beat him. Turning, Cailyn yelled at the men to stop only to see one of the men aim his gun and shoot her father who crumpled to the ground, motionless.
Too shocked to do anything but stare at her father’s motionless body, Cailyn didn’t see the men coming towards her until it was too late to get away; the last thing Cailyn remembered seeing was stars as one of the men knocked her unconscious with a baseball bat. When Cailyn woke up, she saw a stranger standing in front of her fighting off the men that had killed her father. Still dizzy from where the man hit her, Cailyn didn’t understand what was going on as she drifted in and out of consciousness. When Cailyn next awoke, the stranger had fended off all the men and now a blue-haired boy was next to him, looking down at her. Bursting into tears, Cailyn clung to the boy, and blubbered out what had happened. The boy held Cailyn until she stopped crying and told her everything was going to be all right. After she had calmed down somewhat, Cailyn realized that there was a stranger standing next to the boy and stared at him for a moment before murmuring her thanks. Holding Mr. Fluffles closer to her, Cailyn clung to the boy, too scared to do much else.
Shortly after the police finished asking questions of her, Cailyn was placed in a foster home with a couple of children her age. It was a little odd considering she had been an only child up until then but at the same time it was nice having someone else to talk to. Time passed and life returned to a semblance of normal as she returned to school and made a few friends. She was terrified of the dark now though and even after seeing the shrink her ‘parents’ insisted she go to, nothing seemed to help. Her family was kind, certainly but right away Cailyn was labeled a problem child because of her inquisitive nature. She was into anything and everything and loved to play detective though she was much more careful about keeping what she found out to herself. The last thing she wanted was for something bad to happen to anyone else and thus started to keep a diary of things she had found out. Cailyn found out a lot secrets simply by hiding and using her height to her advantage hiding in places that most wouldn’t think to look. One of the kids found her book of secrets however and told her ‘parents’ about them. The book was taken away after that and Cailyn was sent to another foster family, this time in Georgia.
Forced to move away from all her friends and the family she had become close to, Cailyn resented her new ‘parents’ and made life difficult for them. She even tried smoking for a short time but after she was caught with her friends, ‘father’ decided he’d had enough. When she got home after getting in trouble at school for it, her foster dad beat her and made her promise to never do it again. Too afraid to protest, Cailyn promised not to and broke it off with the friends that had gotten her in trouble in the first place. After that, Cailyn became more rebellious and though she got decent grades, she began to fall into the wrong crowd. Her foster father still continued to abuse her but nobody was allowed to know that, Cailyn wasn’t going to be ripped away from her friends yet again and after the last time, she knew that would be exactly what happened if she said anything. Out of necessity, Cailyn grew to be quite the actress and shoved the pain she was feeling away and learned to cover up the bruises. Nobody suspected anything, and if they did…well, she could easily find some secret of their own that they would rather keep buried and threaten them with it.
Summer came and Cailyn found any reason she could to stay out of the house. It was easier to be gone all day then have to deal with her foster father anyway and his temper. While most girls her age were glad to have summer vacation, Cailyn honestly couldn’t wait for school to start up again. One day she was walking through the park when she saw a lone boy sitting on a bench and walked up to him, if nothing else it would give her another reason to avoid going home. The boy’s name turned out to be Isidor and judging from his accent, he had just moved from Germany. Cailyn would become friends with him and soon would find that there was more to Izzy then met the eye. She grew to trust him and even told him a few of her secrets which he reciprocated in turn. When the event happened, Cailyn was surprised to say the least of things, she had never believed that gods existed before then and wouldn’t have given this particular god the time of day had he not granted her a wish. Cailyn wished that she would be able to protect herself and others. The god granted the wish and gave her an insignia and power which was interesting to say the least of things. Shortly after that, Izzy suggested they start a gang which Cailyn agreed to readily, it sounded like fun and a way they could do what they wanted whenever they pleased.
Insignia Level 1
Cailyn’s insignia is a Filigree Chain around her right wrist. She has to rub the chain in order to activate her power.
Weapon Conjure - Level 1 – Once Cailyn activates her power, she is able to conjure a small weapon of her choice. This can be anything from a pocket knife to a small handgun but the weapon’s strength is determined by her knowledge of it. Generally, Cailyn will summon a small knife or a small pistol but each weapon can remain active for up to 15 minutes. Any longer than that and it is hard to maintain the weapon and be able to use it. Should Cailyn attempt to use the weapon for longer, she is prone to migraines or on rare occasions may pass out from strain.
Passive – Noelle is a husky puppy with bright blue eyes and an insatiable curiosity. She is able to speak, but is rather hard to understand at times and prefers to talk only to Cailyn for this reason. Sometimes she helps Cailyn with snooping but isn’t the best at remembering what she’s told. Still a puppy, Noelle is very energetic and never passes up a chance to play or just run around.
Extra
Likes:- Strawberries- Cailyn has always had an odd obsession with strawberries. Left to her own devices she could easily eat a gallon of strawberry ice cream or really, anything strawberry related. Of course, nothing beats the real thing and Cailyn can easily eat several containers of fresh strawberries.
- Country Music-Though it might seem a bit odd for a city girl, Cailyn has always loved 'good old fashioned country songs' as she calls them. Having grown up in a small town, the songs remind her of home and the life that she was forced to abandon upon being trapped in the toy box. She actually has a fairly decent voice that has a slight 'country twang' that she can't seem to shake no matter what she tries.
- Mind Games- Nothing makes Cailyn happier than messing with people's minds. She has an uncanny knack of being able to know what a person does for a living (among other things) simply by what they are wearing and what accessories adorn them.
- Learning something new- Knowledge is power, or at least that is what Cailyn has come to believe during her years as an amateur detective. Nothing excites her more than finding out something that she didn't know before. The world revolves around information after all; it's how you use that knowledge that really matters. When Cailyn does find something she doesn't understand or foreign to her she is prone to looking up anything and everything she can on the subject to the point of near obsession.
- Dogs- Cailyn grew up around dogs and has always had a fascination with wolves especially. They are just so loyal and friendly and much better than temperamental cats that will love you one minute and hate you the next. Not only that but dogs will protect their owners from danger and stay by their owner’s side. Perhaps Cailyn relates just a little too much with dogs but that will never stop her from loving them.
Dislikes:- Being thought of as weak- If there’s one thing that Cailyn hates, it’s being seen as a weakling simply because of her height. So what if she looks like a child, it’s certainly not her fault that genetics decided to give her a child-like appearance. Cailyn constantly strives to better herself, pushing herself further and spends numerous hours training just to avoid being called weak.
- Ignorance- Since she was a young girl, Cailyn always had a love for learning and strove to learn everything she could. She absolutely despises those who would be content to just pass by and has little patience for fools such as these. Perhaps because of this Cailyn hates it when someone shows that she is ignorant of something. Nothing drives her up the wall faster than knowing that a secret is being kept from her and is prone to becoming violent if she can’t figure it out or if her other, more persuasive, methods are useless.
- Losing- One thing that Cailyn will not do is admit defeat; to admit defeat is to recognize that you are weaker than your opponent. Whether it is a physical battle or a battle of wits, Cailyn will use whatever means necessary to ensure that she is victorious, no matter how underhanded it may be. She has no qualms about stabbing people in the back or using her knowledge to find out secrets she knows all too well they would prefer to be kept quiet.
- Night- Though it may seem odd for a high school girl, Cailyn honestly fears it. Ever since her dad was murdered before her eyes as a young girl she has been terrified of going outside at night and even still has trouble going outside when it’s dark out.
- Murderers- Ever since the horror she witnessed as a young girl, Cailyn has both hated and feared those that would kill for no good reason other than to see others suffer. That incident is what spurred her to become a detective in the first place and hunt down those who had hurt her so badly. In Cailyn’s eyes there is no good reason to take another life no matter what the circumstances may be.
- Liars- Cailyn despises liars and has little patience for those who would choose to do so. Since her transformation she is able to easily pick out the signs that indicate when she is being lied to or deceived. Once she realizes this, Cailyn will play along for a short time before pointing it out or drawing them into a trap.
Habits:- Twirling her hair- A nervous habit that began when she was a young girl, Cailyn is hardly conscious when she is doing now. Somehow the feel of her hair slipping through her hands is soothing and helps take her mind off of whatever is worrying her at the time. Whenever she realizes that she is doing it however she quickly stops and tries to change the subject or move away from whatever’s making her nervous.
- Spinning- Whenever she gets excited Cailyn tends to spin in a circle and squeal much like a child would; she simply can’t help herself when she gets excited. Despite how much she despises being called a child whenever she gets excited or even hyper she tends to slip into the persona of a child.
- Hoarding stuffies- Perhaps this started when she was given the Buneary by her birth mother that she still carries to this day. Nonetheless, Cailyn tends to
hoard collect stuffed animals that are cute or remind her of home. Don’t expect her to admit that she does so however, it is one of her greatest secrets and will deny that she does so until the end of time despite the evidence against the claim.
