Christmas was only a few days away but Michelina was still putting up decorations around the rather large lab. Sora was helping reach the higher areas and put up the tinsel and garlands around the doorframes and such. Right now she was putting the finishing touches on a surprise for Oriana, a Christmas tree built entirely of beakers and other miscellaneous supplies around the lab. All that was needed was a star...no, the molecular model of Oriana's favorite element would be that much better. Now, all she had to do is find out where Oriana had hidden them... It took only a few moments before Michi found the box she was looking for and started to make the structures for gold, silver, and then Oriana's favorite element right at the top: Barium. Now all she had to do was figure out what the structure would be for frankincense and myrrh...and hope that there was enough of the balls in order to make them. If need be she could always go to the store and get some more. Hopefully she could finish this before Oriana came back home and she could figure out a way to display the finished structure.
It took Michi a good couple of hours to finish her project before standing back and looking at the finished display. The gifts that the three wise men had given Jesus were on display right in front of the tree, mostly because that's where she had assembled them and they were certainly much too large to attempt to move on her own. The leftover structure pieces were assembled into various elements and placed on the tree along with other odds and ends she could find. Now, all she had to do was finish decorating the real tree in the main room which was the biggest tree she could fit in the lab really. This was certainly going to take a while, but it would be well worth it in the end. Thankfully the people who had delivered it had already put it in the tree stand and everything. Now, she had to start with the lights and hope that she had bought enough to cover this ginormous tree.
Taking a deep breath, Michi pulled out the lights she could find and started to string them up. It took longer than she had anticipated, even more so since she had to get out the ladder to finish the top. Well, at least Sora could help with the tinsel garland she had gotten. With Sora's help, Michi was able to put the tinsel on with little problem and started pulling out the ornaments that she had bought along with the ones from last year and started to put them up. With everything else done, the tree was the last thing she had to do and this time it didn't really matter if Oriana came home or not. In fact, Michi would welcome the help because there was quite a bit of tree left to fill and right now it seemed like an almost insurmountable task. Oh well, she would get it done sooner or later, Michi just hoped that Oriana liked everything she'd done around the lab.

If it were up to just her, Oriana wouldn’t celebrate Christmas. Not only was it a testament to a debunked religion that ripped off the winter solstice celebration, it was something of a sore spot of her past. It had been a Christmas gathering wherein she had first learned of her siblings all those years ago, and the events that transpired after it could not be considered good memories. Certainly she was thankful for the knowledge; certainly she would have wanted to know about them. However, the persistent lack of information as to why they were split up in the first place followed by the painful events that occurred thereafter left sickening traces in the back of Oriana’s mind. She tried to ignore it, really, and for most of the year, she could do so relatively well. However, the Christmas season brought them to the forefront of her mind again, and more than anything, she wished to black out the holiday for its yearly reminder.
Oriana could not do that, however. Since coming to know Michelina, she could not bring herself to deny the younger girl the celebratory happiness that came with Christmas. While outright she held no secrets from Michelina, Oriana had kept the date of her first meeting with her siblings vague at best. Most of what Michi knew were the events that came after, many months later, in fact, and in this way, Oriana kept it to herself. Every year, she forced herself to ignore the thing that bothered her the most and smile. She forced herself to ignore what family she had lost and focus on what was left of it. Marco was out there somewhere, not that she could reach him now, and at the very least, Michelina was right before her. That had been enough in those more recent years, or so Oriana told herself.
That morning, Oriana had gone out forcing herself through shops and stores to deal with people she didn’t particularly like in her general sharp way. She’d alerted Michelina she would be back later, but what Oriana had not anticipated was how much later. Damn Christmas shoppers. Damn them and their incessant vocalized idiocy and violence. Wasn’t the season supposed to be something centered around harmony and love? Why then were people fighting over discounts at stores where there was a weekly ad for lower prices? Oriana couldn’t understand it and didn’t try to. No, instead, she fought her way through the stores along with the rest of them being as loud and fightworthy as necessary. When a man accidentally elbowed her in the shoulder, she made his hair stand on end quite literally before continuing on as robustly as possible. To a number of people in the stores, the woman became the rather intense green tank in every area. That was Oriana for you, however.
It would take several hours of intense shopping before the woman finally pulled herself back into the high rider truck she drove and set out back to the lab. Quite a bit of driving later, she came up to the lab grounds only to store some of what she had purchased away in special hidey-holes before entering the main lab. Upon seeing the tinsel and garland lining the hallways, Oriana knew rather well whose doing it was. However, the question was, where was she? Walking down the hallways into the main room, Oriana would stop upon finding the large tree there. Arms still laden with materials, Oriana stared at Michelina for a moment before forcing a soft smile. “Well doesn’t that look nice,” she commented after a moment before approaching further.

Just as she was starting to think she would never get all the ornaments on the tree, Michi heard Oriana's voice and turned to look at her from where she was on the ladder. "You're back!"Michi exclaimed in delight as she climbed down and hugged Oriana despite how obviously full her arms were,"You really think so? Sora helped me with the tinsel and some of the other ornaments but I could use some help finishing the tree if you want," she continued excitedly. Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year after all with all the lights and decorations, everyone just seemed so much nicer during this time of year and Michi couldn't wait until Oriana saw what else she had done throughout the lab.
Do you need help with those?"Michi asked, gesturing to the bags,"Two hands are better than one after all. I have more to show you too, I didn't just decorate this room though it's all I have left,"she rambled on excitedly, practically beaming with delight. Without waiting for an answer, Michi took one of the bags from Oriana's arms in order to help put stuff away. The sooner that this was done, the sooner they could finish decorating. Furthermore, Michi would be able to show her the surprise she had worked on for so long.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Come on, let's go put this away! I could make us some eggnog or cocoa too if you want,"Michi offered, smiling up at Oriana as she did so,"Oh, how was your shopping trip? Did you get everything you needed? You were gone a really long time,"she continued before walking to the kitchen and living room area to help put the materials away.

A soft smile seeded Oriana’s lips as Michelina exclaimed at her entrance and descended from the ladder. The hug that transpired was not one-sided despite Oriana having bags. Readily she hugged back pressing Michi to herself in an affectionate way. This, yes this, was why she tolerated the craze of the Christmas season. This girl right here was perfect. As Michelina spoke, Oriana glanced towards the bird briefly. “Ah, good,” she assessed resisting the urge to frown. If Michelina had fallen and she wasn’t there... Teeth met the inner lining of Oriana’s mouth, and she stifled what words might have come thereafter. She’s safe Oriana reminded herself. There was no sense in worrying about what could have been, and Oriana didn’t want to ruin this bright mood.
Purple eyes dropped to Michi as the girl asked about the bags, and a small smirk grew on Oriana’s features at the words spoken. “I have two hands,” she noted wryly despite understanding the girl’s meaning. Relinquishing a few bags, Oriana straightened a little realizing that she had been hunching only after the fact. “More to show?” she inserted the question in before Michelina explained excitedly. She’s practically glowing. Oriana smirked. Was it due to Michelina’s power or due to her expressions? Oriana wouldn’t have doubted if someone told her that the girl was using it unconsciously.
The question that came rapidly at the end caused Oriana to shake her head briefly to clear it. “Coming,” she assured softly before following suit. Michelina kept talking, and Oriana kept listening. “Coca sounds nice,” she spoke a bit absently. Maybe they could mix some coca with coffee. That would be good. As she was asked about her shopping, Oriana smirked a little. “It went decently,” she replied vaguely. “The crowds were insane.” A roll of eyes was given as Oriana came into the living portion of the lab. “I hate people.” she grumbled softly more to herself than Michelina.
Setting down the bags and beginning to put miscellaneous things in their place, Oriana allowed her gaze to travel around the kitchen area finding that it too had been decorated. I’ve been gone too long, apparently. Michelina had help, Oriana reminded herself. Speaking of which where is that useless snake? she wondered briefly. As if on cue, the familiar took form, his serpentine body resting in zigzags on her right shoulder. ‘You called?’ he mused softly to her, a serpentine tongue flickering at her briefly. Pealing him from her shoulder and carefully curling him on one wrist, Oriana finished putting things away before turning to Michelina. “So what should I see first?” she asked a subtle smile gracing her features once more before budding into a warmer smile. Extending a hand to Michelina, Oriana waited, fully expecting to be taken by the hand and dragged through the lab thereafter.

The reply from Oriana as Michi offered to help with the bags earned a small laugh before she continued on about what all she had done. It had been a lot of work but for Oriana, it was worth it in the end though, or at least she thought it was. Christmas was her favorite time of year after all and even if they were stuck in the toy box that didn't mean that it had to be depressing or anything like that. Perhaps that was why she had decorated every inch of the lab, even the kitchen which Oriana would soon find out.
The entire kitchen area was decorated in blue and silver with garlands hanging from the counters and door ways while snowflakes covered most of the cupboards and cabinets, while various ornaments hung from the light fixture. It made the room look a little brighter and festive certainly as nearly every room in the lab did by the time Oriana had gotten back home. As Michi helped put the bags away after asking about cocoa, she noticed that Oriana's snake familiar had suddenly appeared. It was rather odd how a snake could just appear out of nowhere and Michi would have asked where the serpent had been had Oriana not distracted her from this line of questioning with a question of her own.
Red orbs lit up when Oriana asked what she should see first as an excited smile appeared on her features. It was all Michi could do to hurry up and put the water on for the cocoa later before taking Oriana's hand and more or less dragging her to the science themed part of the lab she had spent hours working on. Michi knew that Christmas didn't necessarily make sense to Oriana but she loved science, and that was why there was a 'Christmas tree' just for her. The other rooms were nice too, but first Michi wanted to see what Oriana thought about this particular decoration before anything else. "What do you think? Michi asked excitedly, bouncing a little on her heels as she spoke,"It took a while but I think I got all the parts right. That's gold, frankincense and myrrh,"she explained briefly, smiling up at Oriana as she waited to gauge her reaction. ~~~ Oriana Verdi

Sure enough, a petite hand had grabbed her own, and Oriana found herself swept up through the lab as Michelina moved. With longer legs, Oriana didn’t necessarily have to run to keep up with Michi, but she was still surprised how fast the girl was moving. Glancing around as they made their way down various hallways and turns, Oriana caught the glimpses of various seasonal décor set up. Michelina really had done a lot, and once more, Oriana found herself wondering how she could have possibly set it up so quickly.
Meanwhile, the poor serpent was left clinging Oriana’s arm rather tightly as she moved. He might have been less jarred if he clung to her shoulder, but he couldn’t slither with her moving like that least he accidentally lose grip either. When she slowed as they finally got to the designated space, the snake hissed out a deep sigh before starting his trek up Oriana’s arm. The woman barely noticed this as she found herself standing before a lab door wondering what Michelina had done beyond. There was a moment’s hesitation before she followed inward, but upon stepping inside, Oriana found herself, well, amazed.
Purple eyes flashed about the room taking in the structures that Michelina pointed out. However, it was for an absent few seconds before those spheres locked on the central focus. The ‘tree’ of sorts was ingenious in terms of design. The way in which clamps and glassware was used to depict something that was organic in a situation that clearly wasn’t took an impressive mind. Truthfully, Oriana expected no less from Michelina as far as work went, but this… this wasn’t work per say.
For a few seconds, she was quiet. Slowly turning to Michelina, Oriana smiled gently down at her. “Michelina, it’s beautiful,” she commented quietly before reaching forwards and gripping the other young woman tightly into a hug.

Michi rocked back and forth on her heels as she waited to hear what Oriana had to say about the tree she had spent so long making. It had taken a while to figure out how to make the design not to mention how to incorporate the elements on the tree itself. On top of that she had to figure out how to balance the weight of the elements on the tree which meant that she had to make the base sturdier to say the least of things. She had been determined to make it work however and now Oriana was seeing the fruits of her labor. Honestly, it had been fun trying to make all the different elements work after all, there was a beauty to seeing all of her hard work pay off after all. The same could be said with the rest of the decorations of course, but they didn't compare with this project, not even close.
When Oriana didn't say anything at first, Michi began to get worried. What if she didn't like it...what if she hadn't wanted the beakers and such to be used for something as simple as a Christmas tree. For a few seconds, Michi's mind raced as she tried to think of what she would say if Oriana didn't like it after all. These thoughts were chased away however when she saw Oriana's gentle smile and heard her say it was beautiful. Michi grinned at Oriana's words and returned the hug easily. "I'm so glad you like it,"Michi replied quietly, smiling happily up at Oriana as she did so,"There are other rooms as well but I wanted to show you this one first. I know you don't get Christmas so I thought I could blend science and Christmas together and you'd like it,"she continued, briefly explaining her reasoning behind the tree and the structures underneath it. ~~~ Oriana Verdi

Oriana couldn’t help but smile. Michelina could turn even the most absurd things into something beautiful. She’d known that almost from the beginning, yet being reminded of it time and time again was nicer than Oriana wanted to admit. As the hug was retuned, green locks swayed just a little as Oriana snuggled her cheek into light pink hair briefly before the younger girl’s minor shift to look up had her leaning back a little to meet her gaze. This certainly curbed her slightly tight mood from shopping.
“It’s wonderful, Michelina,” Oriana assured simply. Glancing briefly back to the tree, she allowed a softer smile to come to her features. “The careful planning and balance involved in itself is very nice, very precise,” she commented allowing her careful spheres to glide over the artwork of sorts. Oriana was no architect, yet she could recognize the science behind such a simple peace of ‘artwork’ anyways. “You worked very hard, I can tell,” she finished before hugging Michelina a bit tighter to herself.
A moment later, a small hissing sound would reverberate in her ears causing lavender eyes to slide sideways regarding the snake who had managed to get so far as her shoulder. It was probably best for him that he didn’t get squashed between them during the embrace, but the small smirk on Oriana’s features as she imagined it certainly had the snake recoiling a little. Rather quickly the serpent slithered off her shoulder and down her briefly outstretched arm to the table.
