History
Sudi was born the baby to a strict Arabic family that still held the old traditional values close. Initially, he didn’t mind the hard work because he wanted to grow up to be strong just like his dad but Sudi was always confused why Sagira couldn’t play with them. Sudi enjoyed being with his sister more than his brother and father because of the age gap between them. Father was kind to him most of the time, but he didn’t like it when Sudi spent time helping Mother and Sagira with chores. He simply didn’t think that it was bad that he enjoyed doing things that they did. After all, Sagira liked doing stuff with them, why couldn’t he like cooking like Mother did as well. Father said that it just wasn’t how it was done and that he needed to do men’s work alongside his brother.
For a while, Sudi obeyed what their father told him, but he grew resentful over time over being forced to do something that he didn’t like. Honestly he would much rather be cooking or playing with his friends and thus when Sudi was finally able to play and have fun and enjoy being a kid instead of working all the time. He was able to ‘play house’ with the girls and not feel ashamed of whether or not his father would find out that he was playing with girl’s toys. Unfortunately, Father did find out about it and he was chastised for demeaning himself and bringing shame on the family. Under the circumstances, Sudi simply took it as best he could and then fled to Sagira, she understood when nobody else seemed to.
Fortunately, Father couldn’t control everything he did and he continued to do ‘women’s work’ in school where he could be himself. Sudi enjoyed cooking and by the time middle school rolled around, he found himself in a class where all they did was cooking. It was a requirement for everyone to have an elective at some point and since Sudi was well ahead in his classes he opted into choosing something that he could enjoy. At some point it was just too much for his father to bear and he was restricted to school and household chores that did not include helping Mother or Sagira. Around this time was when Sagira started to rebel more, making Sudi want to stand up to his father as well. He wanted to be himself and not be trapped under his father’s thumb forever and started to speak up more.
Something changed with Sagira however when Father said that he was going to have her marry some guy and that he was going to have a wife next. The prospect of having a wife wasn’t scary to Sudi, but he wanted to be the one to choose who he was going to marry, just like Sagira wanted. He had a few years yet before he was able to be married but that meant Sagira was going to go away soon. Sudi didn’t want that, Sagira was the only person who understood why he loved to cook and go skateboarding with his friends instead of working all the time.
Father started to beat Sagira this time when she disobeyed him and though Sudi tried to help, tried to stop it, he was always pushed aside and told to stay out of it. He didn’t blame her for trying to run away, how could he when he saw how miserable she was lately. When she finally did manage to run away, Sudi was glad for her, he didn’t like seeing her get hurt and hoped that she would be happy. Unfortunately, with Sagira gone, Father’s attention turned to him and began to beat him to make him stop doing ‘women’s work’ and shaming the family. School was his only solace now and though he covered up the bruises as best he could, there was only so much he could tell his friends about what was really happening.
The breaking point was when Father said that he was going to be married on his eighteenth birthday to a girl he had never met before. Sudi yelled back and adamantly refused to meet the girl or to stop doing what he enjoyed. As he expected, he was beaten for the outburst but with his high school graduation around the corner, Sudi was already making plans to run away just like Sagira did. Right after graduation, Sudi took the note that his sister had left him and ran away in the middle of the night. Nobody realized he was missing until the next morning and by that time he was on his way to Georgia.
Shortly after he arrived in Georgia however, Sudi was approached by some deity or god of some sort and asked what his wish was. At first he asked for Sagira to be happy, but that was refused because it turned out she had already made a wish. After thinking about it, Sudi wished that he could go to culinary school so that he could learn to become a chef. This wish was granted and he was granted an insignia and a power in order to play a part in some kind of game. Sudi didn’t care, as long as his dream of becoming a chef was going to happen.
Insignia Level 1
Sudi’s insignia is a large eye of Horus on his back that he needs to touch at least a part of in order to activate his power.
Passive – Sudi’s passive is a red hawk named Talon that is able to English though with a distinct British accent. He is very protective of Sudi and can be harsh and cruel towards those who would dare harm his boy. Talon knows quite a lot about the culinary arts, or at least he likes to think he does and is always suggesting recipes though most of the time raw meat is involved in some form or another.
Wind Blades – Level 1 – Once Sudi’s power is activated, Talon gains the ability to manipulate wind enough to create a kind of blade sharp enough to cut through some types of common metals. In order to use this power, Talon has to first charge for one post before he is able to create the blades for up to two consecutive posts. Though the blades are dangerous certainly, they are not accurate and can harm anyone or anything that is unfortunate enough to be in its path. Sudi is only able to use this ability maybe twice per thread but even that is dangerous for him because while Talon is charging, he is drawing energy from Sudi and makes the insignia feel like it is being burned into his back. Should he use the ability too much he runs the risk of passing out from lack of energy.
Extra
- Sudi doesn’t like mice, or rats, or rodents of any kind. They’re gross and disgusting and he won’t go near one for anything.
- When he’s stressed or freaked out he tends to bake, a lot and usually holds bake sales to get rid of the excess afterwards if he doesn’t simply give them away.
