He stands now about five-foot eleven inches tall, but for the better part of his childhood he was barely past five feet tall. Earning him a good deal of ridicule from his peers at times, but what he lacked in height he made up for in charm. He was surrounded by friends, family, and was accepted by both very easily. He didn't generally have much trouble fitting in outside of the occasional childhood bully, but what person didn't encounter one of those within their lifetime? Throughout his teenage years Aric was in and out of trouble with his own family. He was in that age of trying to find himself, to discover who he was, and thus often rebelled against his parent's rule. He experimented both ways and despite being very free about his sexuality, as most of his friends were, he tended to be very secretive about it. His private maters were his own to deal with. Near new years of his sophomore year in high school he met a girl on the streets of Paris. She was a tourist, but her beauty stole his breath from his lips and he found himself entranced by her. With the courage of his heart to guide him he approached her and won her over. She snuck out of her hotel to meet with him and together the night was theirs. He spent her days in Paris with her and he showed her the world that tour guides could not. He'd fallen for her and though he knew she would return home he desperately wanted to keep in touch. So he wrote to her every week until she was able to get her computer set up in her home and then they began to write each other every day. The more he learned about her the harder he fell. She was intelligent and beautiful with a personality that lit up the world around her and he wanted to spend every moment of his day talking with her. He'd begun planning to move to the united states to be with her. Even begun to gather the forms he needed in order to leave his own country and to become a citizen in hers, but even beyond that he wanted to attend university in the states. He felt that it would offer him both better opportunity in the careeer he dreamed of, but as well a better chance at being able to find a job so that he could support her. In the years after his graduation from high school things were tough, but at least his parents were finally supporting him in something. With their blessing he set out for his American University and his life in america in general. After enrolling in his University he once again met with the woman he'd fallen for. A few months later he was informed that she was carrying his child. Most men at his age would have probably freaked out and fled at the first mention of their girlfriend's being with child, but not him. He was excited and it encouraged him to work harder in school and at his mediocre job in a warehouse in order to provide for his future family. He was thrilled, excited even, over the idea of being a father. He even promised her that she would never have to work that he would take care of her and their child. Every one of his paychecks went half-and-half. Half toward his student loans and half toward buying things for his future child. The birth of his son Felix will always be marked as one of the happiest moments in his life. For a single year everything seemed to be going well. They'd even been married, a simple informal wedding, but one that meant a great deal to him anyway. His son was growing and developing at a perfect rate and his relationship was great, at least in his mind it was, but one day after finishing his daily classes he hurried home to their modest apartment and found that his girlfriend was nowhere to be found. Instead he found a note taped to their son's crib that had only one thing written upon it. I'm sorry, it was something that didn't really sink in until he saw what was in the crib. When the cops found his wife's body he was told that she had taken her own life. Aric's life had become consumed by dark clouds and he struggled to understand why she hadn't just called him to come get their son. Why she had to take everything away from him. In order to get through his own thoughts Aric began to turn into a bit of a workhorse. He consumed himself in his studies and in a few more years he graduated his University with a Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology and after a year of being an intern he was offered a job as a Criminal Psychologist. What his wife had done only drove him to try to understand the way people thought more, particularly those who commit crimes against others, or themselves. To Aric these people are a mystery and while he has learned to deal with his past scars they remain deeply imbedded in his heart. When the event happened he wished that he would be able to save a child from meeting the same fate as his son did and because of his wish being granted his help in getting inside of a cereal killer's head had been able to prevent the death of a child that was abducted in a case that he had been assigned to. He doesn't know how he ended up in this place, but he knows his mission is clear and he intends to keep anyone from feeling the pain that he felt those years ago. Now at the age of twenty-nine he's determined to make sure that he sees his life's mission through and whatever happens along the way will come as it may. Insignia Level 1 "Requiem of the Mind" - Level 1 - Requiem of the mind is a skill that makes it's user capable of causing psychological breakdowns through methods of making the target relive past traumas or events as if they were happening to them in the instant that they are used. It works similar to an psychosomatic illusion, but can (at higher levels) cause complete mental shut down by looping the process in the mind that feels the trauma. At level 1 Aric is only capable of bringing these memories to the surface so that the target must relive them. This only lasts 20 minutes and can only be used on a single person once per day.  The more this ability is used the more strain it puts on Aric's body. This ability also has a chance of back-lashing and making Aric part of the those psychosomatic illusions where the person that is envisioning them sees him as part of those memories and could attack him in response to them depending on who they identify him with in those illusions.  The way that his power works makes it so that only the person that he has targeted can see their own memories since it is all in their head.  For Aric it is like watching a game of charades where the person he's targeted is acting out past experiences before him and it helps him to get a deeper insight to their behaviors and thought processes as well as possible leads to crime they may have committed. Aric cannot directly target someone's trigger for dark memories at this level unless he's spoken with them for an extended period of time and figured out what they are that way. Even then it's not an accurate skill at this level and there is no guarantee that the memories they relive will be the ones he wants them to. Though he is more likely to get it right if he's figured out the trigger himself.  In order for his power to work Aric must first activate his insignia and then touch the intended target directly. This creates the link that sparks the effect of his ability. The stronger someone's mental strength is the less likely his power will be to work. Someone with a mental shield would be impossible for him to effect at this level, someone who had strong mental will would be increasingly difficult, and people with mental telepathy or other skills like it would be a challenge. Though the difficulty is adjusted as his level increases. Aric's insignia is on his left pec and it is a black tattooed mark in the shape of a lizard which activates with his hand pressing over it.  "Passive" -  A bearded dragon lizard that hangs around usually clinging to his pants leg or finding it's way underneath his ponytail when he leaves his hair unbraided.  The lizard's name is Steve and everything he speaks always ends in a question.   Extra ⌘ French Accent - Being born and raised in Paris France has left him with a strong french accent.  His voice is laced in it even when he speaks English. Though he sometimes tries to speak more clearly for those that seem annoyed bit it , he can't really escape it, as it is something he doesn't immediately notice himself.  ⌘ Second Language - Aric speaks, writes, reads and understands both English and French. English is his second language, but it is one he speaks fluently much like he does with French.  ⌘ Smooth Talker - He tends to have a habit of being a smooth talker, while he doesn't go out of his way of trying to do so, it just seems to come naturally to him though different people have different reactions to it.  ⌘ Four Roles - He has had experience in all four roles of criminal psychology and thus can be called upon for any of them.  ⌘ Passive until provoked  - Aric is a lover before he is a fighter, but if you hurt someone he loves he will come at you like a storm.  While he prefers not to be violent he is not against it.   ⌘ Piano - He can play the piano without sheet music after he has successfully played a peace at least once.  Sometimes he just plays what he feels and generally his skill level is relatively good.  ⌘ Fear of thunder - When it rains Aric is fine, but when it storms Aric tends to hide in doors. While there is no real trauma in his past that might have sparked this fear within him it is something that's stuck with him throughout his life.  ⌘ Deceased Son - Aric's son was killed before his second birthday.   ⌘ Deceased Ex-Wife - His ex wife departed this world of her own accord shortly after their son passed away.  ⌘ Workaholic - Aric goes out of his way to do as much work as he can to occupy his time and until he has a reason to do otherwise that's pretty much what he tries to focus on.  ⌘ Paternal Instincts - He has strong paternal instincts. If he sees a child in danger or being mistreated you can bet all your cookies he'll be jumping right in to stop that from happening.  Aric wants to have a family again one day, but with the event he's not sure that will ever happen. He tends to keep a special eye on those who are struggling in order to make sure that they seek the proper means of helping themselves. ⌘ Observant to Body Language - Aric tends to be very attentive to someone's body language.
