His father never wanted to have kids, yet his mother made it so that they had one in a desperate attempt to have him stay with her and not leave. Upon discovering this, the man left Tobias’ mother, forsaking both her and the newly born baby boy. It didn’t matter to him if he was his or not, he simply didn’t want to have a child, especially with someone that was seemingly obsessed with him to the point of being quite unpleasant and exceptionally hard to deal with. - Needless to say the boy grew up being told how he was the reason why his mother sunk as low as she did and why his father had left him. Nothing was ever good enough through his mother’s eyes for him to be anything more than a “mistake that cost her her life and happiness”, even if the child proved to be highly intelligent. With an unpleasant mother that continued to spend her nights going off the deep end, he resorted to whatever books had been left behind by his father, of both fairy tales and educational influences. - Having a low self-esteem and seeing himself with no worth, despite how he could logically decompose his mother’s statements, he often found himself alone, unable to really connect with someone. At first he was rendered nearly apathetic really, but since he longed for human interaction that wasn’t hostile, he shifted entirely. Compensating for his lack of emotion, he attempted to show more emotion to others, often overdoing his performance. It worked somewhat, people beginning to have social interactions with him instead of ignoring his existence. But the bonds he established seemed so… Frail, almost nonexistent really. He got along with everyone just fine, but at the same time it still felt… Lonely really. Also, eventually the mask became who he was, for better or for worst. - It wouldn't be until he entered high school that he found his first true best friend, a fellow student by the name of Cecil Hyde. Their meeting happened all on account of Tobias simply being in the right moment, in the right time. And while it wasn’t exactly pleasant at first, considering Cecil rammed him down while in-line skating. He took a few stitches to his head, but at least he gained a friend. It evened itself out nicely. Despite his nearly infamous arrogance, Cecil proved to be a nice guy, even going as far as taking him himself to the hospital and sticking around to make sure he was alright and even more. - Though the two seemed to be from complete opposite worlds, they simply connected and helped each other out. While at first it was only Tobias helping Cecil with his homework and studying for the exams and tests, he proved to be a loyal friend and rescuing him one night when the former called due to his mother becoming quite aggressive after drinking too much. He wouldn’t let his friend in the hands of some lunatic, regardless if she was his mother or not. So he told him to move to his house where he would be safe and Tobias had never been so happy before in his life. He slept soundly for the first time since he could remember. - Two years later and the two still resided under the same roof and only grew closer as friends. They’d always have each other’s backs no matter what. Though not when it came to in-line skating… Tobias didn’t share the same excitement as Cecil when it came to that and the last attempt ended with the former finding himself in the hospital once more due to a bad fall. - When the “event” occurred, Tobias’ only concern was Cecil’s wellbeing, leaving no stone unturned until he found him. He dislikes the idea of some seemingly omnipotent beings controlling them like this, but he’d follow the rules and try to think of a way out of that situation. Both him and Cecil would make it out of there safe! He’d made sure of it. Insignia Level 1 SCOPE! - Level 1 – By increasing his brain activity to an inhuman velocity, Tobias is capable of absorbing and processing information at a superhuman level. Time appears to slow down for him as he collects data and processes it, even allowing calculations to be made if need be. During the usage of this ability, he must remain still so as to not have anything interfere with the information he’s collecting. If used for extended periods of time, he will suffer head-splitting migraines and will eventually collapse, if not fall into a coma. He’s also been experiencing intermittent loss or decrease in sight, which seems to slowly improve should he avoid using “SCOPE!”. His insignia seems to have taken an unusual form, presenting itself as the iris of both his eyes gaining a golden shade of color. Passive – His insignia materializes into an owl-like beige and brown spirit that Tobias has dubbed as “Archimedes”, in honor of the man and his feats in the area of mathematics and physics. A surly yet wise old-owl, he will always spare his time for those that wish to learn and Tobias himself of course. Extra Somebody To Love – His wish that was made to the female voice. He just childishly wished for someone that would love him and for him to love. He didn’t have that in his childhood and he wishes more than anything to find that person. He was displeased when he learned most people had their wishes granted but he didn't right off the bat like them. He just accepted it though and figured it was inconceivable for it to be fulfilled like that. Mind Over Body – Needless to say that this young adult doesn’t exactly fancy sports all that much, opposed to his best friend. He just prefers working his mind and not his body. While not utterly useless when it comes to physical labor, he isn’t exactly a athletic model. Technology! – He adores it, he lives it, he breathes it. He’s always with his electronic devices, never parting with them so one can expect him to have his laptop, cellphone and everything else he has from gadgets to his music player. FILTER [OFF] – He’s talkative… But what might be the more pressing matter is perhaps the fact that he apparently voices his thoughts out, making him brutally honest and blunt as a bowling ball. At times it can be his greatest flaw, or his greatest virtue. It’s all up for debate on this really. Many are the people uncomfortable with this. Maternal Markings – Sadly, mother’s love hurt… Quite often. Mostly situated on his back since he learned to tuck and protect his softer areas, various light scars and bruises are able to be observed and they aren’t exactly discreet. He’s not exactly shy about them, but he’s also not entirely comfortable obviously. Goggles&Glasses – Due to his newly gained ability, the need to use glasses became obvious. On a good day though where he hasn't used SCOPE!, Tobias can walk around without them on. On an average day he’ll use them when he’s reading or working on something. On a bad day… It doesn't really matter or make a difference really. Forensic Researcher - He hopes to one day get a degree in it. It's the only goal he has set for himself and finds it to be what he wants to do for a living. With an hobby dealing with electronics of course. OOC OOC Name: Chesh.
