History
- The household of Sinclair has since the first records of it been serving the Chancellor’s, generation through generation without fail and never once betraying their trust nor failing to provide the utmost astonishing service. It’s long since forgotten though, why the bond between those two families was so strong and any story passed down from generation to generation was most likely corrupted with each step down the tree it took. Regardless, it was upheld in the past, present and, highly likely, future. And though the Sinclair’s served, they were still regarded as of noble birth and respected as such by the Chancellor’s.
- Vergil’s father was very strict to uphold this tradition, shaping his son much like his father did to him so as to be a member that their ancestors would be proud of. But since childhood he’d fight this dull, archaic and utterly absurd custom. If they were of noble birth like them, why should they be the ones serving them? It made no sense to the boy to have to bow down before equals and like bloody hell would he be chained to servitude just because his father wished it so. He would be his own man, serving no one but himself regardless if he “brought shame to his family”, as his father so bluntly put it. He had always hated the man for divorcing his wife on account of a dispute with a member of the Chancellor family.
- His mother wasn’t any better though, refusing to taking him in for reason that to this day would be unknown to Vergil. Still, he had a quite fruitful upbringing, showing himself to be quite a bright lad for his age and with a dedication to knowledge that contrasted his constant need to rebel against his father’s wishes. He was troublesome enough to be kept away from the main house after quite a few incidents. He was forgiven of course by them, the Chancellor’s simply attributing that as the folly of his age. How he loathed to be considered a mere “child” by anyone. He’d rather be held responsible for his actions like an adult, than to be disregarded as a youth. How he wished he was already a grown up at the time, he had even lost count of how many times he wished it.
- When he came of age and was finally ready to leave his household, he was forbidden by his father to abandon his family’s legacy, which sparked a terrible argument between the two in their own household. It didn’t help that he had acted in an unpleasant manner in the Chancellor’s household. Unbeknownst to Vergil though, the reason why his father was so eager to school him properly, the reason why he was so strict and why he was so insistent on those damned traditions was because he was afflicted with a heart condition that weakened the heart’s muscles. The stress from that argument along with his deteriorating state, unable to be solved and only treated in a minor way, had been simply too much for him. A member of the Chancellor’s along with one member of the Sinclair’s had found him hours later upon the floor, since Vergil had stormed out in anger.
- He’d always be indebted to the family he always was so reluctant to serve though, keeping true to their bond and making sure arrangements were made. They paid for everything really and were even kind enough to ensure that Vergil would be taken care of until he was able to find a sustainable job. He had never shown any scorn towards them, but he couldn’t help but feel guilty after them being so kind to him. Especially one member of their family that just… Proved herself to be someone he could proudly serve without an ounce of reluctance.
- Through the whole ordeal, she just seemed to be there. Elizabeth Chancellor was her name. He remembered her well from his younger years, though never did he really socialize with her, considering everything. A duet over here, a duet over there, a word of here, a casual talk over there. But that seemed to be enough for her to truly show interest and not have it be just over some archaic bond that had long since been forgotten. She was… Impressive was the word he found that could accurately describe her. As both woman and as a member of that family.
- When it was all over and done, after a very long talk with Elizabeth, Vergil decided that for once in his life he wished to serve the Chancellor household, but he would only serve the one he deemed most worthy, regardless if he was regarded by most of them as a mere ruffian that had no place in their household. He’d serve her faithfully and he’d see to it that she’d be a great woman that would mark the pages of history. She was worth such glory, or so he believed.
- The “event” came by unknowingly to Vergil, only being informed through the news and confirmed by lady Elizabeth. He had no idea what in the world had happened or how it was possible. The only thing he was certain of was that he’d do whatever it took to get Elizabeth out of that realm, by any means necessary.
Insignia Level 1
"Windblade" - Level 1 – Activating his insignia, Vergil has the ability to send out invisible blades of wind with a swipe of his hand, inflicting as much damage short-to-long range as a regular well-sharpened knife. One blade per swipe is delivered and it can be horizontal, vertical or oblique. Extensive use of this ability causes a backlash. His hands and or feet, which can be used to launch the blades, being cut due to it.
Passive: Vergil’s passive manifests as a white-spirit-like male with long hair wearing a white kubanka (Russian hat). The spirit seems incomplete however, only having his form from the waist up and it still seems unstable, like smoke really. He’s as arrogant as him, but is utterly unreliable and Vergil thanks the gods that his power doesn’t actually rely on that wretched creature.
Extra
Smoker: He’s an early smoker. Though he started just to spite his father, he soon became addicted and has been smoking ever since. He’s very selective when it comes to cigarettes though, not every brand to his taste. He especially dislikes the American brands.
Tea Time: He enjoys a nice cup of tea, his British heritage kicking in. Call him old fashion, but there isn’t a better tea than Earl Grey with a splash of milk and a small lump of sugar. Utterly perfect.
The Rain: As the odd child that he is, he’s found himself to adore the rain. How it smells, how it caresses his cheek when he looks up to it, its reason for being, everything about it he simply loves. Many a time he’s stood out in the rain for no reason, finding it simply soothing.
Mythology, Folklore, Legends: He’s fascinated by such themes and has put a considerable amount of time in them, being especially fond of mythical beings, greek mythology, legends and tales.
The Piano: One of the very few things he did enjoy learning as he grew up, regardless if it was a forced habit implanted by his father. Mostly centered around classical, he’s surprisingly proficient when it comes to playing this instrument and the songs he chooses to play are surprisingly calm, to the point of being eerily beautiful to hear him play. He was never able to improvise or create his own songs, but he doesn’t really care.
Yes, My Master: The amount of loyalty and obedience he has towards his master is beyond anything to ever be encountered, to the point where he will put her wishes above himself and or his own personality or belief. Only she can have him stop and his ears will never fail her. An order from her is not questioned nor is it ignored in the slightest.
Gymnast: Much to Vergil’s embarrassment, and one of his most well kept secrets, he had been part of a group of gymnasts. His agility and flexibility still remaining to this day; even if he hasn’t exactly been devoted to the sport since a very long time.
Partial To Theatre: Again, perhaps a custom implanted by his father, Vergil does enjoy the occasional play every now and then. Heck, he’s even transmitted the sentiment that life was all just a big gigantic play and everyone were actors that played their part. An odd way to look upon the world, but it was his regardless.
The Wish: His childish wish of being an adult actually came true, somewhat. But it came as something very unexpected, or better put, unstable. From time to time and randomly, the boy will shift into an adult form for a random period of time, only then to revert back to his normal age in the same manner. He is entirely unable to control this, a fact he finds troublesome to no end.
